I wonder if the Lakers will amnesty Kobe? Next year will be his last under contract and he'll miss part of the season(right?), if not quite a bit. With their luxury tax threshold and his 30 mill salary, it's going to cost the Lakers an additional 45 million, on top of his salary, to keep him. Wonder how much of that 30 mill salary a contender would pick up to have him for the stretch run?

How does restructuring work in the NBA? Could they work out a 2-3 year extension with an aav of like 17mm? And spread the $30mm guaranteed over over it?

I don't think thats possible. I don't think a contract can be lengthened and cut down on the initial value of a year thats already contracted. Not to mention, thats basically asking Kob to sign a 2 year 21 mill deal, which I doubt he'll take, even in his current situation.

Please go away forever kobe. That FB post is comedy gold. What a self serving ass. Dude refers to himself in the third person with a nickname???

As a Bulls fan, I hated Kobe for a long time. But who gives as [expletive] about his ego? The dude plays his ass off and won't stop. I respect the hell out of him as a player, he deserves a massive ass ego. NotSportsCenter put out a tweet a day or two ago that unfortunately rings true:" Kobe Bryant has the heart of a lion. Derrick Rose has the heart of a shivering chihuahua." Give me the ego all day long if you bust your ass like that guy has.

Kobe has so much heart he demanded a trade when things weren't going his way in 2003. You're confusing heart for stubborn confidence.

The Derrick Rose comparisons are terrible. They have nothing in common basketball wise and the same people who are judging "heart" are likely the same people who think Cutler faked an injury and isn't tough.

Remember when Kobe showed so much heart he took 3 shots in the second half of Game 7 against Phoenix. It takes a lot of heart to want to prove a point rather than try to win a playoff series.

The Lakers are still likely to get smoked in the first round, but I'm much happier they got the 7-seed and drew San Antonio rather than getting the 8-seed and OKC in the first round.

Yeah, they probably wouldn't have been within 15-20 any games against OKC. While they aren't going to win against San Antonio they should be able to keep it a little closer and could take it to 5-6 (especially if Manu/Parker aren't 100%).

"If you see me in a fight with a bear, prey for the bear" is such an amazing quote.

For me, it's more like, "If you see me in a fight with a beer, pray for the beer."

Paul Pierce's inclusion there is puzzling

"gets stabbed in the face and neck repeatedly, still lives"

If that had happened on the court, yeah, but he got carted off in a wheelchair and came back to score a ton of points. Just another drama queen.
