How on earth would Rose suiting up and not playing be well received?

with the Bulls injury luck Rose would end up being forced to play

Barkley just took a shot at Rose. Shumpert had a sweet rebound dunk and Shaq was commenting on him feeling comfortable when Charles said "Yeah, I guess he has some muscle memory."

I'm shocked Barkley would side with the prevalent public opinion.

This makes Reggie Rose very unhappy

Saw this in a Heat ESPN.com article:

The shorthanded Bulls, who were missing three of their top four players...

Umm Buckets is healthy

But seriously are they trying to imply that Hinrich is the 4th best player on the Bulls or am I forgetting an injury?

Also, with a healthy Derrick Rose and Thibs, I think it's clear that this team is always a contender. So I really hate that caveat by Reinsdorf that he will only pay the tax if it puts the Bulls over the top.

Over the top means a player that gets them a championship. Nate doesn't do that. If the player or deal comes along that would, I think Reinsdorf would go into luxury tax territory. But he's not spending that to lose to the Heat.

Doesn't get them a championship? With Rose and Thibs they already have a shot at the title. The goal every year should be to build the best possible team to contend using every possible resource available. If that means Nate Robinson, or some other player, so be it.

Whoa whoa...lets not pretend that the win last night makes the Bulls title contenders. The odds are still hugely against that happening. Even if they beat the Heat in this series...that's a team whose number they've had for some reason. But Indiana beat the Bulls 3 out of 4 this season, and I can't remember the last time the Bulls have had any success against the Thunder.

This team has been more than I imagined they could be, but lets not get crazy.

The Bulls more than likely are not beating Miami, but if they did they would absolutely be contenders at that point. Never mind, I already stopped caring about arguing because we aren't beating Miami.

The only reason they did was because no one would take Hamilton at the deadline, but still.

wouldn't they have had to match salaries?

They could have traded him to a team under the cap, but IIRC the news around the deadline was that the Bulls weren't desperate enough to send a first round pick with him to entice a team.

I just said "ooooooh, suiting up" exactly like this:

Hahahaha fantastic.

But seriously, if he's dressing without playing, that's stupid. At least just play Teague's minutes.

Obviously jumping way ahead, since I'm not quite buying the rumor....but I genuinely wonder what kind of reception Rose would get if he played on Friday.

Thunderous applause. People still do, and still want to, love DRose.

I agree mostly, but I think there will be a contingent of angry fans, though maybe those fans are mostly home viewers.

Really? I've always found Barkley to speak pretty freely on stuff.

So, if the Bulls improbably win tonight...are the Heat still favorites?

Also, if they win tonight and Rose returns for game 3, and the Heat still win the series, is that a worst-case scenario for Rose?

It's up there. I'm trying to decide if that'd be worse than the Bulls beating Miami without Rose and then losing to NY or Indiana with him.

Yes and yes.

Not unless Rose hurts himself or he throws the offense out of sync. The Bulls have a better chance to win the series with Rose and that's all that matters.
