So, if the Bulls improbably win tonight...are the Heat still favorites?

 

Also, if they win tonight and Rose returns for game 3, and the Heat still win the series, is that a worst-case scenario for Rose?

It's up there. I'm trying to decide if that'd be worse than the Bulls beating Miami without Rose and then losing to NY or Indiana with him.

 

They have a better chance against Miami without Rose, but a better chance against everyone else with him. Sounds weird, but it's what I think.

Yeah, I really think them having LeBron guard a big, keeping him off the perimeter defensively, really negates a lot of his ability to affect the game on that end of the court. If Rose is on the court, LeBron is guarding him, effectively making him nothing more than a decoy, which is a problem, especially at the end of quarters and the game.

 

I'm not sure they have a better shot in general, but it's easier for them to get scores at crunch time with Rose not on the floor against the Heat.

If Nate and Rose are in at the end, LeBron guards Nate right? That gives Rose a good matchup. If LeBron guards Rose, I don't mind that. Keeps the best defender in the league off of the best closer running.

First off, Whitlock's reputation precedes himself. Secondly the article is full of pointless race baiting. Thirdly, how else, can you defend Derrick Rose, when you were the same guy that dumped all over Jay Cutler for not returning TO THE SAME GAME, after a knee injury. It's screams of stupidity, hypocrisy, and it Whitlocks case, yes racism.

Thibs has overplayed guys, but the team does have somewhat a history, at least from the front office side, of pushing minutes limits (Pax vs Vinny). I think the Bulls would put Rose on a strict minute cap, even if there was an OT. Maybe Rose realizes Thibs does exhaust players and didn't want to have to tell him no and sit out in key moments. But that's why you play the last three weeks of the season and build your minutes up.

 

Or maybe Rose is just mentally weak.

Um no. Rose has seen no gametime , let alone playoff games in 12 months. Robinson is one of the hottest scorers right now. Rose can't get into game form right away.

just in case i'm not understanding this correctly, we're talking about whether or not it would hurt the bulls to play derrick rose instead of nate robinson, correct? and theoretically, this scenario is happening in this dimension, on earth, in the year 2013, according to the accepted rules of play of the national basketball association? and we're not sure which player we would rather spend our minutes on? am i understanding this right?

It wouldn't at all. It's the perfect scenario. All I'm saying is that I think LeBron will probably be on Nate because Nate is better right now.
