just in case i'm not understanding this correctly, we're talking about whether or not it would hurt the bulls to play derrick rose instead of nate robinson, correct? and theoretically, this scenario is happening in this dimension, on earth, in the year 2013, according to the accepted rules of play of the national basketball association? and we're not sure which player we would rather spend our minutes on? am i understanding this right?

It's far from a given that giving Robinson's current minutes and role immediately to an ice cold Derrick Rose is going to pay dividends right off the bat.

And getting more than what Nate is giving you is going to be nearly impossible

ROFL. Are you real?

Nate's played great for us. But settle down.

I was only referring to the final possession(s) of the game when things tend to be more of an iso situation. I think it's easier to score with LeBron playing a big guy than it is with him defending a playmaker on the perimeter, especially right now with Rose more than likely being rusty. I don't think you'll see LeBron on Nate, it would create weird matchups elsewhere and probably give the Bulls a bit of an advantage. Plus, I think Nate is too quick for LeBron, even with the huge size disadvantage.

As Sulley said, against any other team, and any other game situation, you're much better off with Rose, rust or not.

you're right, it might take a minute or two

do i really need to point out the logical fallacy of expecting nate robinson to continue to produce at this clip? this is [expletive] madness

i disagree. anytime you pull the heat's best defender out on to the perimeter, you make it easier to score, not harder

Generally, yes, unless he's the guy guarding the ball, which I'm assuming he would be in this scenario. And he didn't do much helping when Nate crossed over Ray Allen the other night for a layup. Both he and Bosh just kind of flailed pointlessly.

Rose isn't giving you 20 points a game for the playoffs. I think that's where Nate is at.

not if the Heat's best defender is valuable as a perimeter defender, but rather ordinary against bigger post players.

i'd rather have lebron guarding noah in the post than the focus of our offense on the perimeter.

I still don't know why the argument is tending to be Nate or Rose. Especially with Deng out the best end of game lineup for the Bulls to score would likely be Rose, Nate, Butler/Bellineli, Boozer, Noah.

The likeliest outcome is that Nate will do what he's always done: stretches of being spectacular interrupted by things that make you wanna tear your hair out.

What are the possible outcomes for Rose? I think it's equally likely that he comes back and is a reasonable facsimile of his former self as it is that he comes back rusty, tentative, and generally ineffective. Another possible outcome is that he tries to do too much and wastes possessions because his timing is shot and he wants to play through it--which would be fine against Brooklyn but not Miami.

I don't see the slam dunk case that throwing Rose into the fire, in THIS series, is going to outproduce what Nate is currently giving us.

Agree with that lineup, especially the last 5 minutes if Bulls are down by a few

If Rose comes back, he becomes the focal point of the offense and thus changes the team chemistry. Then, with him dominating the ball, it's much easier to control the bulls with a bigger player who's just as athletic.

Thibs just announced Hinrich is out tonight

Deng reportedly experienced more bad headaches last night and is still in Chicago. He might go consult another doctor to figure out wtf is going on.
