The headline on that Rosenbloom article is:

Rosenbloom: Castro -- rhymes with disaster

Remedial kindergarten class for that headline writer. Those words do not rhyme.

Please be one of those super awesome Tampa Bay Rays style long term contracts

EDIT: From Brett's blog, quoting Kapman...

The deal, which could be six or more years in length, is expected to be finalized before the end of the 2012 season and would not only buy out the remaining arbitration years that Castro has, but at least two years of free agency which he will reach after the 2016 season.

Solid move. And if his relative struggles of late shave a few million or so off the contract, so much the better.

Great news, personally I hope it's longer than 6.

I'll take "why starlin's lady friend cried wolf" for $600, alex.

I think a simple "that's what she said" would have had a little more punch there. So easy.

You know, that was my immediate thought; but so many other terrible jokes entered my brain at once. . . . . . bad sex joke overload, I suppose.

So, on a serious note I am very happy the FO isn't too concerned about the recent slump. Having quite possibly the best SS in the majors (not necessarily the best right now) locked up long term is awesome!

i generally like keith law, but this is kind of embarrassing

I think so, as long as he doesn't forget how many years are in the contract "@AlexBerngard: Locking up Castro long term is smart, right?"

It's going to be extremely awkward when Starlin Castro signs a three-year deal and tries to file for free agency after year two

Oh great he's Rohnny Cedeno II

Rob agrees.

I don't get it. Does that mean I like him too much, or not enough?

I liked Ronny Cedeno.

I also like Castro (though granted, I preferred Lake due to the power potential when they were at the same level and nobody knew much of anything about either).

It amazes me how someone as smart as meph didn't know the difference between loses and looses.

I'm not convinced that his intellectual prowess extended much beyond the statistical/baseball analytics realm. His statistical analyses were pretty sweet, though.
