He was labeling positions by number in the lineup, and 1st base is 3. Maybe Rizzo hits 3rd, but I think they were just referencing that he'll be at 1st tomorrow more than having a scoop on his lineup spot.

#Cubs lineup tonite at home vs. Mets - look for a change at 3 tmrrw: Johnson9/Barney4/Castro6/Soriano7/ Baker3/Soto2/Mather8/Valbuena5/Wood1

Wow, Rizzo in the 3 spot. Hmm.

Or does it mean 3 as in scoring position 3 (1st base)?

I hope Jeff Baker is traded or DFA'd

From MLBTR:

The Nationals have been poking around for a right-handed hitting corner infielder to replace Mark DeRosa, who is hurt and declining. John Lannan has improved his trade stock by pitching better of late in Triple-A.

DeRosa was activated from the DL today.

I mentioned this earlier, but Len was on the Score today and said that that's where he expects Rizzo to hit.

That said, in the Tweet he easily could've just been referencing the position.

Considering he included the numbers for the positions it seems clearly a reference to the field position.

I guess I assumed he meant a change at the third position in the batting order since Baker at 1st against a righty shouldn't happen ever.

According to Matt Abbatacola, Rizzo won't be at Wrigley in time for the game tonight (in case anyone was looking forward to some shots in the dugout).

.274/.361/.494 14 HR

Has there been any indication as to where he will fit in the lineup?

These sound about right to me. I see something in the .270/.355/.480 range, myself. (This is all completely arbitrary and baseless, of course.)

1) DeJesus - CF (L)

2) Castro - SS ®

3) Rizzo - 1B (L)

4) Soriano - LF ®

5) LaHair - RF (L)

6) Barney - 2B ®

7) Valbuena - 3B (L)

8) Soto - C ®

The aesthetically pleasing L/R/L lineup....

Can someone who knows more about this stuff tell me how this affects his service time? Will we be able to hang onto him for one year more if he plays the remainder of this year?

Wasnt that the point of not bringing him up until now, and not 2 months ago?

On a selfish note, I wish his debut wasn't a WCIU game. As for expectations, I'm not sure, but the main things I'll be watching for are his K rate and his FB rate.

Sveum said he's going to bat 3rd or 4th, so my guess is they were talking about batting order.

I'll go .267/.340/.495.

Rizzo to Cub fans:

“I want to tell them that there’s going to be good times, and there will there be bad times. Hopefully there will be times I’m a hero, and there will be times that I’m the villain. That’s the nature of the game, and that goes for every baseball player.”

I hope Rizzo meant the goat and not the villain, otherwise he might be embarking on an unprecedented career indeed.

No he's trying to be neutral.

.500/.500/.500/500HR/500RBI

no walks? get him out of here.

Well the only time they pitch to him see is when no one is on base. And he just hits a HR any time the ball is anywhere near the strike zone, see.
