Scary, smack did start talking crap. Telling us to enjoy it after you've owned us. We know that. It's been a really crappy last six or seven years to be an Illinois fan. We've now had a decent week and feel excited because our coach seems to get it when it comes to recruiting. We don't need a purdue homer to hamer us. We know we've sucked for a decent amount of time.

That was joking post game trash talk, you guys should have beat us in West Lafayette, this is the worst Purdue team in years.

Yes we should have. Had way too many calls go against us in the closing seconds for that to happen though. That's why I found it so ironic Painter got tossed against us.

I believe he has history with the ref that tossed him.

It was definitely weird. He got tossed so quick and there really wasn't anything that stood out in the game to warrant that. I would have been pissed when Abrams tackled your guy for the backcourt call, but wouldn't have got tossed over it.

Mike Anderson is a weird guy. He wouldn't talk to the Post-Dispatch about tomorrow's Mizzou-Arkansas game, and I had already forgotten that he had his exit from Columbia's airport blocked from view and that he snuck out of Mizzou Arena. I don't think anyone really misses him, so to close himself off is just odd.

So, the sports media is doing their annual mock selection as hosted by the NCAAs today.

Three guesses where Illinois is.

A five seed in the same bracket as KState?

I imagine I'll get flamed to hell for this, but Illinois as a 5 seems insane to me. I know the B1G is great, but they're still 5-7 in the league. Am I missing something? Is college hoops just that bad this year?

Even as an Illini fan, I think that the 5 is a bit high. But despite the conference record, they have a fairly strong resume, with a handful of RPI top 15 wins. But personally, their Jeckyll and Hyde nature has me slightly skeptical.

Strength of the wins. At gonzaga, destroyed butler in Maui, won at Minnesota, beat IU, smoked Ohio state. But yeah, a five seems high. But there aren't a lot of great resumes so far.

Compare Butler's resume to Illinois', and consider that Illinois beat Butler by 17. And Butler was a 3 in their bracket.

Illinois has more RPI top 25 wins than anyone this season.

If you combine top wins, Illinois has the best 1/2 combo in the country...@Gonzaga, vs.IU

Hey, Iowa vs. Minnesota has the highest FanMatch score of the weekend! Too bad Pomeroy stopped doing his breakdowns.

If Iowa wins they're sitting at 17-7, 6-7 with their next two @Nebraska and vs. Purdue and right back in the conversation. I think it will require at least 9-9 + 1, possibly 2 in Chicago or 10-8 + 1 to get in.

if iowa goes 10-8 they'll be in, but they won't go 10-8

Yeah they're in the range where it's more than just possible but not likely. The remaining schedule is Minnesota, @Nebraska, Purdue, @Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska. They need to go 5-1 in those 6 to get to 10-8. I definitely think they win the Purdue and Nebraska home games so then it comes down to winning 3 of the other 4. If they get Minnesota on Sunday I'll get optimistic.

I think 9-9 is more likely. At that point you have to beat a bottom 3 in the first round and hope you draw Wisconsin/OSU in the 2nd round rather than IU/UM.

[expletive]. If they just split the games they lost where they led in the final minute they're damn near in and really just playing for a seed irght now.

I'm so excited about Hill. He's proven to be the second best player in the State in his class, and can do just about everything on the floor. Hopefully he will turn into the type of wing scorer we were hoping Richmond could be.

To all production crews ever: never set up interviews with Keiton Page again.

What happened?

Tom Crean is exhausting to watch.

He's now a strength coach for OkSt. Just him being on TV is atrocious TV.
