This is not practical, just my pipe dream.

After going to the new Yankee Stadium and then seeing the pictures of our new spring training stadium I really wish the Cubs could just take a couple of seasons away from Wrigley, tear it down and rebuild it in the same fashion but better. Maybe move the second deck up and out just a little bit. Add a smaller third deck to the top (or put the suites on top of the second deck making site lines on the lower deck much better - plus NO POLES!) and/or a second deck on top of the RF bleachers with a video board above the LF bleachers.

Of course the rooftops would go nuts, but since this is my fantasy land I don't care.

You were inspired by the new Yankee Stadium? That place is an abomination.

Could you expand on that thought, because I think it is pretty awesome.

It is an awful, terrible, horrible, hideous, ugly stadium. It's brutal.

It's essentially a museum with expensive beer. Other than getting free tickets to good seats I don't know anybody that likes it.

I've never been, but from what I've seen on the internet and on TV, I pretty much have always seen it the way goony does.

Old Yankee stadium pretty much stunk, but it was the house that ruth built (then got completely redone in the ugly 1970s utilitarian style that isn't useful) so people loved it. New Yankee stadium is just a more bloated version of that place, that doesn't have as much grime. There is nothing interesting about it. It is not enjoyable to walk around. And that awful moat thing is really horrible looking.

It's really bad for the average fan. There is no air circulatin and it feels like you are sitting far away from the game. All the advertising is an assault on the eyes. I honestly don't know what they were thinking

Maximize revenues and cater to the 1%. It works I assume for those purposes, but it sucks.

The fact that you'd have to lie to fake him out shows that he hasn't overplayed his hand at all.

It wouldn't be a lie. Like I initially stated, I would love it if all along they've been working out some back-room deals with Rosemont (or any place that would be feasible, for that matter). Then go public when they're ready to knock Tunney and the rooftop owners on their collective behinds with the news the team is moving.

Again, it's a pipe dream. But the idea of them abandoning Wrigley Field doesn't bother me in the least.

Considering that it would mean several more years of costs going to things other than the product on the field, it would bother me.

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS poles. I'd much prefer some obstructed view in the 200 level in order to have great views in the 400s.

Yep. People who hate Wrigley always bellyache about the poles. Don't buy seats there, then. 400 level seats have incredible views and the reason's those damn poles.

With modern construction materials the poles are unnecessary. Wrigley does need to be rebuilt from the ground up, but that's not happening.

Because all the parks built since 1970s have obstructed views. Are you always an ass or do you just save it for here?

How many of them are on as small of a footprint and wrigley and have an upper deck as close to the field?

every baseball stadium in america is built out of steel and concrete. what materials are you suggesting wrigley be rebuilt with, exactly?

Transparent aluminum.

if they could've figured out that this [expletive] was available we wouldn't even be having this issue with the rooftops. [expletive] architects stuck in the stone ages.

Keeping the pots separate also may help ensure that the funds the Rickettses raise for the hotel and plaza are not defined as "baseball-related" under league rules and therefore not factored into the amount the Cubs must dedicate to smaller-market teams under the league's revenue-sharing agreement, team and W Partners officials confirmed. Ultimately, Major League Baseball will make the determination.

Plz go in our favor

Is it true though that the Cubs can't spend non-baseball revenue on the team because of tax implications due to the sale and Sam Zell's ownership stake? I remember hearing somewhere that the Cubs can't dedicate any outside funds to payroll until the tax agreement with Zell has run its course.

Yep. Plus they can't operate at a loss for even one calendar day of the year. This supposedly goes on for 3 more years. Which means for payroll to go up, attendance needs to go up first.
