what big time FA are going to be available who could help us? Avril? Vince Jackson?

VJ is a must have for this team so you can draft other positions of need. This team sorely needs a true #1 WR.

First round I think DE/OL would be a good start.

Eh, I like Vincent Jackson and all, but I'd rather not pay that much money to a WR who's going to be the oldest starter on the offense (other than Garza). Granted, he's only going to be 3 months older than Cutler but a 29 year old WR is completely different from a 29-year old QB. This draft is loaded with WR talent. Cutler has shown he can win with crap WRs. That doesn't mean I want to stick with crap, just that I don't see the need to pay $25Mil guaranteed (basically what Santonio Holmes got) to a WR entering his post prime years. I'd rather spend money on a younger player. My FA philosophy is don't spend on players over 28 unless they are a proven franchise QB (never happens), a high caliber offensive lineman (because they can play well into their 30s), or truly one of the top 5 in the game at a game-changing position of need (ala Peppers). While WR is a huge position of need, I don't think VJack is quite at the talent level I would be willing to risk that type of money on.

Besides, with the way this season has ended, the Bears are going to be back in Michael Floyd territory in the draft order. He reminds me of a shorter, slightly slower version of VJack. If not him, there's a ton of WR talent in this draft.

The last pick Angelo spent on a WR within the first 3 rounds was Iglesias if i'm not mistaken. At this point I'd rather we bring in VJ or some other proven player AND draft a young WR. Watching Knox slipping down the field makes me want to scream.

That would be ideal, but the Bears would have to make an admission that is atypical of the organization. If you bring in a FA WR, he's going to be the #1 WR. Bennett and Knox aren't going anywhere. So, you're looking at either a rookie (presumably a high pick or what's the point) or Devin Hester (the guy the team has annointed the #1) as the 5th WR. This year, Knox started as the #4, but he's gotten plenty of time, but the Bears have been missing either Bennett or Hester (on offense) most of the year. Last year, Aromashodu was the 4 and he never saw the field after the first 2 weeks. So, there's no chance the 5th WR sees the field. So, you're talking about either a redshirted draft pick or a major demotion of the coddled Hester.

Somehow the Bears are still 4 point favorites. This has to be a reputation line, since Chicago was quite good early and Seattle was quite bad. But Seattle has won 4 of 5, granted 3 of those wins were at home and they only have 2 road wins all year, but 1 was at the Giants. The Bears should conceivably be able to shut down Seattle's mediocre offense, but all they need is 10-12 points.

Seahawks 14

Bears 10

The final nail in the coffin of a terrible season. They'll start Hanie or McCown vs. the Packers and lose by 30. Then, in week 17, it's a battle of the quarterbacking titans:

Nate Enderle vs. Mighty Joe Webb

What's the over under on this game? That would go a long way toward explaining the 4 point line. It's hard to imagine either of these teams scoring more than 2 TDs unless there is a pick six or kick return. Hanie is awful but Jackson is equally bad. The Seahwaks have a more dynamic running back.

Seahawks 13

Bears 9

I don't know about that. Jackson isn't any good, but his rating this year is 77.9, and it's 77.1 for his career. He completes roughly 60% of his passes and throws as many TD as INT. Hanie's rating is 48.6, he's got 2 TD/6 INT, completing only 52% of his passes. Hanie has just 6.4 YPA, and 3.4 AYPA, while Jackson is 7.0 and 6.1 in those categories. I mean, Jackson is not a good QB, but I think Hanie is clearly worse. Even in Jackson's first action, at age 23, he didn't look as bad as Hanie has looked.

35.5, lowest of the week.

Good thing I don't bet on the NFL because I'd be getting a second mortgage to put on the under.

hoping for a fun game like the last 2 in Chicago! If only the Seahawks hadn't lost to the Redskins they would be tied for a spot!

For some reason i am enjoying this season with a team of nobodys seemingly having fun playing in college atmosphere. Beast Mode and Earl Thomas with the Heater in the middle, just a fun group

Tied for what spot? Beating the Skislns would make you 7-6, 1 game behind the WC teams.

Some other WR's who are FA for next season: Vincent Jackson(has been talked about) Mike Wallace(restricted) Wes Welker, Dwayne Bowe, Desean Jackson, Marques Colston, Stevie Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Lloyd.

It will be criminal if we don't add someone solid, with this group available. Wallace would be my 1st choice, but I'm not going to give up the picks needed to get him, because he'll certainly get the highest tender he can get. My order of preference would be as follows.....

1 Desean Jackson- him and Bennett would make for a solid pairing, although his attitude will probably keep us away.

2- Vincent Jackson- So he's 29? He's still excellent for now and probably will be for 2-3 more years anyway.

3- Dwayne Bowe- A change of scenery would do him good.

4- Wes Welker- Would have him higher, but Pats will franchise him if they have to.

5-Marques Colston- Don't see him leaving either.

6- Stevie Johnson- Not a difference maker at all, but an upgrade for us.

7- Reggie Wayne- My honest guess at who we get. Old, past his prime guy, ala Moose.

8- Brandon Lloyd- Don't see us going here again.

The Score just had a guy on from Seattle who pretty much said Ruskell would be the worst possible option for the Bears GM. A quote "Find me 5 guys he drafted that you're proud of". As bad as Seattle has been the last few years, I guess it wouldn't surprise me if you couldn't find 5 good guys from his last few drafts.

Yeah, I don't know the details but my thoughts on what happened to Seattle during his reign was a solid but unspectaculiar franchise went to crap.

also, I'd love to have Bowe, but will he be a FA? I dont want to trade draft picks for a WR when we likely could draft a good one in the 1st round this year.

FA.

I don't know of their relationship, but if Haley is brought on as OC, it could have a big impact of whether or not Bowe would consider the Bears.
