Sheesh, has he never watched Breaking Bad? It's a myth that if you ask someone if they are a cop, they have to say the truth if they are one.

what most people don't know, though, is that if you ask dj qualls if he is a cop, he DOES have to tell you.

So, if this drug thing turns huge, I could see it going one of two ways. Either Jerry feels obligated to make good this offseason and get a much better team on the field for his one last chance, or Virginia feels embarrassed for her organization's ties to the story and cleans house with hopes for one last run at success while she's alive.

17-0 Falcons. Not that I expected the Jags to win and not that I expect the Bears to miraculously make the playoffs but its depressing that its looking like the Bears will basically have to beat the Packers or the Falcons will have to lose out to make the playoffs.

Yea, this post deserves it. :(

Just for fun, I am ignoring the Giants, Falcons and everyone else and just focusing on the Lions and Bears and 1 playoff spot. If the Bears and Lions tie at 9-7, there are 9 possible scenarios, and only 2 of them involve the Bears getting in over Detroit.

Detroit loses to either Oakland or San Diego, but not both and loses to GB.

Chicago loses to Seattle and beats GB and Minnesota.

If the Lions and Bears were to tie at 10-6, there are 3 scenarios that can occur with Chicago making it in one of them:

Detroit beats Oakland and San Diego and loses to GB

Chicago wins out

Given that in any 3 team tie with Detroit and another team, the Bears will still have the same issues of winning the tiebreaker over the Lions to contend with, those scenarios are the only chances the Bears have to make the playoffs unless the Bears simply finish with a better record than Detroit.

I know, the Bears are done and its stupid to discuss, but for some reason I like putting together this stuff so screw you.

I think this is right but I've been wrong on these before.

If we win this game I think Cutler plays against GB, but at this point I'm sort of indifferent on making it to the playoffs. Higher draft pick + sparing us the humilation of a blowout loss in New Orleans or Green Bay = fine by me.

“I’m nowhere near 100 percent,” Forte told ESPNChicago.com. “So it’s not looking good for next week, I know that.

“A lot of people were speculating about Christmas Day [against the Packers] and things like that,” Forte said. “But my mindset is, realistically, playoffs would be the only thing that I would really have my mind set on.”

“I’m not going to really go out there and play unless I’m 100 percent and I can run straight ahead and sprint and make cuts, because as a running back you have to make people miss,” Forte said. “You can’t just take on hits and get pounded on. You’ll have more injuries to rehab.”

Can't blame Forte for that mindset at all. The Bears didn't want to pay him, so he has to look out for the rest of his career. No reason to do this organization any favors. Nice work, Angelo.

If NO wins out (vs. Min and then home for last 2 weeks) and SF loses to the Steelers tomorrow night (all strong possibilities), then NO is the 2-seed with SF as the 3. If the Bears make it as the 6-seed, I'd have a lot of confidence in them winning in San Francisco with a healthy Cutler...not even necessarily Forte.

Best case scenario would be Bears win and Lions lose today. If the Bears beat GB, the Packers will have little incentive to try vs. the Lions in the final week.

As for this game, I'm going to miss most if not all of it. May be a good thing. Lose today and Cutler and Forte probably should/will go on IR. Maybe get Hanie in there for a start vs. the Vikings. But obviously, this game is very winnable. The Bears would have won all 3 of the games without Cutler had they had 1 fewer turnover. Take away 1 Hanie INT vs. the Raiders that led to a score. Take away the Williams drop for INT. Take away the Barber fumble. Seattle isn't any better than Oak, KC, or Denver. The Bears still win this game if they continue to play defense and protect the ball.

The Bears did offer him a fair contract extension. It just wasn't up to the level that Forte wants. I like Forte has our running back, but his injury shows how fragile running backs' careers are. I hope he bounces back 100% healthy, either this season or next, but I can't fault the Bears for refusing to shell out big cash for a position that chews up and spits out players.

gawd I want to win this game just so I dont have to listen to my coworkers. not that they are as caustic as packer fans, but its always fun to be on the + side of these games. Marion Barber redeems himself today.

I don't know why, but I always feel that the Seahawks should be an AFC team.

because they were for their entire history until what, 15 years ago?

Believe it or not their first year in the NFC was only 2002. Also technically they played in the NFC their first season in existance (1976).
