I am confused. Do I want my favorite player traded or not, for a suit?

I can't tell which organization of the three is the worst one?

I rather the player be a free agent with these suits, now Mooron, I mean Moorad wanting

Comp for girlie suits?

What is a Man Purse?

Does it contain everything the travelin Exec needs to perform?

What makes the carrier of a Man Purse more baseball valuable than a player? I guess that keen eye for talent versus that keen eye to hit a fast moving projectile?

NO HELMET REQUIRED!!

this is free form poetry.

Just saw the Gammons clip that I'm sure was discussed a dozen or so pages back but too lazy to check for. Interesting that he seems to think it's just A ball prospects. Considering how weak in premium talent Daytona and Peoria were this year, if it's A ball talent or lower, I am concerned that we're going to give up two high ceiling kids. That said, still worth it, but depending on who is given up, I'm not so sure I wouldn't rather give up McNutt in stead.

Now that Selig said he's going to get involved if he has to, we should probably holdout until he does get involved.

Yes, let's leave it up to Bud Selig to determine the value of guys like Brett Jackson and Trey McNutt.

With the depth of upside we have in the lower levels, the relative weakness at the top, and Ricketts' commitment to spending on the draft and international signings, I'd rather give up the kids further away than McNutt. If I were unsure of how much Ricketts was going to spend on the draft, I might agree with you, but it's harder to get a highly talented near sure thing in the minors than a couple of high upside kids in low A when you spend like Ricketts is.

In this video posted earlier today, Gammons says the Theo compensation negotiations are now centered around 2 unnamed A-ball prospects:

(apologies if this is a repost)

This is far too interesring a tidbit to be buried in nonsense. Assuming they mean A Ball and not Rookie League, and Szczur and any '11 picks are off the table, some candidates are:

Beeler

Kurcz

Antigua

DelValle

Batista

Loosen

Peralta

Liria

Rosscup

Kirk

Rhee

Serrano

Lopez

Silva

Alcantara

Watkins

Less likely possibilities

LaPage

Burgess

Crawford

Cerda

Hicks

Bour

Jones

I'd really hate to see Kurcz, Antigua, or Liria go. Beeler and Rhee would be disappointing as well, but not quite as much. Far as I can tell, the rest of that list wouldn't hurt that much with the great class we have coming in.

Am I way off on this?

A lot of guys on that list I'd hate to see go, but fair or not, we're going to have to give up something and I'd rather it be a few of these guys than any of the few that could help us in the near future(Brett, McNutt, Szczur) or some of the 2011 class. We don't know what's going on in these talks, and if Ricketts is saying no to anyone with any value, these talks arent going to progress without Selig stepping in.

I'm a huge fan of Kurcz. I'd almost put him in the Jackson, McNutt, Szczur category. If they wouldn't have tried him out as a starter (which I wasn't totally against or anything) he would have definitely made it to AA last year. I think he could easily make it to the major league team next year and be our closer by 2013.

I might be too high on him though, I just love him for some reason. (The reason is obviously because he's awesome, but you know)

Matt Garza to a copule of A ballers shows who really had the leverage and who didn't. Maybe the holdup is one or both of the players are in the Dominican or somewhere else and have to be flown to Boston to have physicals.

So to end the day, the Theo Epstein compensation deal is done pending medicals/not done at all/close/not close/waiting for Selig to step in. The Cubs will give up cash/prospects/top prospects/McNutt/not McNutt/some low minor leaguers. The press conference will be Friday/A few days from now/nobody really knows.

Fun day! Let's do it again tomorrow.

I assume you simply forgot to credit Jon Heyman?

Red Sox fans at SOSH getting pissy.

I mean are things going so poorly for us that even the Cubbies are trying to bend us over? The most fucked up organizations in all of sports is trying to mock us in these negotiations??? I've had it. they've got 24 hours to come to their senses if I'm in charge. I don't care how "awkward" the setup would be in Boston, we'll somehow make it work.

Let me see if I got this straight...Theo gets out of his contract early to go the Cubs. The Sox get three no name, typical PTBNL guys. The Cubs get arguably one of the best GM's in the game and we get "theoretically" nothing? We pretty much got hosed on this deal. When does the nightmare end?

You have the Cubs bent over backwards because of blatant stupidity within the organization. You stand firm here. Anything else would be preposterous.

The ways these negotiations are sounding, I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox only land Steve Bartman

I doubt it happens, but it would be great to wake up to something concrete tomorrow. Really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really really, great.

I feel like this article might have been out earlier, but I don't think anyone posted this:

Meanwhile, the Cubs’ late-week optimism may have sprung from success in getting the Red Sox to back off demands for top pitching prospect Trey McNutt, who sources said Thursday night was off the table.

Depending on what happens this off-season there may be a set amount you can pay draftees (slotting). That said, I believe that Gammons' comment about "A-ballers" was not meant to mean guys in A-Ball. I believe it was meant to mean mid-level prospects (many of whom reside in A-Ball). I also believe that guys like Carpenter or LeMahieu (who have had brief stays in Chicago) are in play but neither would seem desirable for Boston (whereas they may for other teams).
