I know there has been speculation in the past that Maddux wanted some kind of front office position. I hope he is added to the dream team. Although I still think he would be the perfect manager.

I think the big reason that Maddux avoids on the field jobs is because he doesnt want to have to have that much time or travel with the team. I think he's enjoyed being at home more since he retired. He's had the ability to come and go as he pleased with his special assistant to the GM title.

I'm such a d head. I forgot he was special assistant. I guess I hope he does more than that, or something

I think as he gets older the idea of more work in baseball even on the field might appeal to him. He would be an incredible pitching coach but I could also see him working in the front office as a GM even at some point.

"It’s hard to say what I’ll do. I definitely won’t do anything full time,” Maddux said Wednesday from his home in Las Vegas. “Maybe a part-time gig, but it all starts with spring training, and I can’t commit to spring training right now. No way.”

Maddux is mainly concerned with his 17-year-old daughter, Paige, who has suffered with severe headaches on and off for nearly a decade.

“She’s been scuffling pretty bad the last three or four months. I mean, school started three weeks ago and she’s missed seven or eight days already,” Maddux said. “It’s really spiked up the last few months."

Rozner is a HUGE Maddux fanboy and wrote a column about Maddux a couple of weeks ago. Maddux has a daughter with severe migraine problems and said that he's just not focused on baseball right now. I got the impression that he might have stepped back even if Hendry were still here.

I knew there was a reason he wanted to be home, thanks for the link and the story. Certainly hope things get better for his daughter.

No one gives a [expletive] about this World Series anyway.

I like it.

Well stop. You know who likes this World Series? Al Queda. Al Queda likes this World Series. They say it's the best ever. You don't want to be like Al Queda, do you? Didn't think so. You don't like this World Series anymore.

I actually think Kap did a decent job on the radio. =D>

Gammons wouldn't know Trey McNutt if he punched him in the face.

Red Sox fans are insane...

Cubs will say "we don't care how it goes over with the fanbase.

Boston doesn't have the leverage that you think they have.

That is just stupidity [to ask for Castro]

That was pretty good. The host was flabbergasted by what he was hearing.

The way Boston keeps insisting they OWN Theo is kind of creepy. I think Soul said it best about a hundred pages ago:

Theo's moving on, deal with it pal.

RT @ScottMCBSSports: Source: "Lot would have to happen" for Cubs/Theo to be announced tomorrow. Could happen, though. Hoyer will get 5-year deal, like Theo.

Theo and Hoyer will get 5-yr deals from #Cubs. Jason McLeod to leave #Padres and join them. Josh Byrnes will become new GM of Padres

#Cubs not only will compensate #Red Sox for Theo, #Padres will receive comp from Cubs for Hoyer/McLeon. Likely two lower level minor lgrs

After reading this article from Johnette Howard on how Theo needs to sign Pujols AND LaRussa I'm convinced of two things:

1) Johnette Howard probably wants to have sex, or HAS had sex, with Tony LaRussa based on how she publicly felates his ego in this article

2) Her father was really pissed off that his wife didn't give birth to a boy.

Here's his article

The Red Sox-Cubs soap opera spins forward as the clubs haggle over compensation, but the general parameters of a deal that will affect three clubs are in place, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations:

Not only will Theo Epstein take control of the Cubs, he will take Padres general manager Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod, one of Hoyer's assistant general managers in San Diego, with him. Josh Byrnes, the former Arizona general manager who currently is San Diego's senior vice-president for baseball operations, will replace Hoyer as the new Padres' GM. Ben Cherington, Epstein's top assistant, will succeed him as GM in Boston.

While Epstein will receive a five-year deal worth $18.5 million, Hoyer, likewise, is expected to receive a five-year contract with a significant bump in pay from his current salary as incentive to move. Hoyer currently is signed with the Padres through 2013, with and the club holds an option on him for 2014.

While Epstein would hold a presidency role, it would be a lateral move for Hoyer. However, he would be reunited with his very close friend, Epstein, and he would have large-market resources at his disposal.

Wow... so we take the Padres GM and make him our GM and he brings with him one of his guys and we give up two low level minor leaguers... but we take Boston's GM and make him our President and they wanted the ace of our starting rotation.

Seems about right
