Dude can absolutely rake. Missed two bombs tonight by probably five feet; had them hit off the top of the tall fence there in DC.

yeah he's got a really nice swing. with his tools there's pretty much no chance he busts (although he may not stick right now just because he's so young). he will be a fun villain for many years to come.

I caught a little bit of the Nats game last night against the Phils on MLB. Nats broadcast(kool-aid being served) talked alot about Harper maturing a great deal since last year and that he's quite religious and turning out to be a good kid. I wonder if we can just mark it down to being young and then growing up. He seems to have a good idea of the strike zone and wasn't offering at some pretty close pitches.

As an aside, Strasburg threw some breaking stuff @ 88mph+ that were simply unhittable.

Well, personally, I'll be bummed if Harper isn't the douche many of us thought he was. I need to see this thread thrive over the years.

the nats announcers were talking him up like he was the tebow of baseball

He can't be the Tebow of baseball. He's naturally a good player, and the rest of his team (especially Strasberg of course) has shown to be pretty good too.

I see what you did there, but I was talking solely about the religious aspect.

so, a douche

Yeah, but he could be a fun douche as long as he doesn't find God too hard.

But what if he found God the Josh Hamilton way?

Random "friend of a friend" rumor from my buddy in Cincinnati: Mat Latos plans to hit Bryce Harper square in the back the first time he faces him. The Reds play the Nationals next weekend and Latos will be scheduled to start in that series so...hell, I'll probably watch that first at-bat just in case. :stickman:

What did Harper do to Latos??? Pretty stupid if that's true.

Oh and Hamels hut him on purpose...Old school baseball etiquette.

Yeah, I never got that logic. You actually hurt yourself by putting a guy on base to prove some sort of stupid point.

Male dominance...Bit him in the ass there but the Nats aren't going to do too much against Hamels anyway.

Just a message to the hotshot 19 year old is all it is. It's to be expected when you art so much hype. If anything it's a sign of respect and acknowledgment that hes a possible new Alpha within the league.

Stupid but human...I hope it never goes away.
