does anyone think Quade will be fired?

I'm not laying this season at his feet. While his decisions haven't been stellar, the faults of this team run deeper than Quade. The injuries to the rotation hurt and then the line-up has further been thinned. This was a team that needed lots to go right to contend, and instead, much has gone wrong.

Even with all that, it is often the manager that takes the fall. So, if we finish with 95+ losses, which I think is a strong possibility, could Quade be given the axe after one season?

Quade is pretty obviously a placeholder coach until a better one comes along. It's not a bad idea, really. This is a lost year no matter what, what if there were no candidates the cubs actually wanted?

Quade's handling of the pitchers has been very poor. However, I think he's learning and I think he has the right pedigree to be a good manager. I think not having a strong MLB calibre pitching coach on the team is a big problem. They have two minor league guys at key decision making positions and it shows.

Overall, I like Quade, but he has a lot to learn on the big stage.

I think his fate is tied to Hendry's. I don't see Hendry firing a manager after just one year, but a new GM would likely bring in a new manager.

I belive Freddi Gonzalez was the 1st choicen but being a wise man he took the Braves job. As for Quade, I never agree with teams who fire the manager just to make a statement, but even before everyone started getting injured, the team was worse than it should have been.

I don't see Quade get fired unless the Cubs are planning on making major impact moves this offseason. If the Cubs are still another whole season from being financially ready to compete, it wouldnt make sense to bring on a new manager to look awful again.

i'm going to predict that quade gets fired, and ricketts, caving in to the pressure, lures ryno back to the cubs and overpays him considerably

I don't see Quade getting the axe unless Hendry joins him on the unemployment line.

And Hendry won't leave until he resigns or retires.

Ricketts loves him, thinks he's a top flight GM doing an awesome job. We're stuck with him.

Don't you get tired of being a caricature?

I have to agree. It seems pretty clear to me that Ricketts has no idea what he's doing and honestly thinks that Hendry is doing a good job. I highly doubt that either leave.

It might not be Tom's choice to make.

Then the question is, would the Cubs be in any more of a competitive position in our division if we had 100 percent of our players healthy from day one of the season?

I agree with cubinny that a pitching coach without extensive experience doesn't help, but would Quade's decisions be better if this team was 100 percent?

At this point it might be best if it does continue this way. That little burp at the end of last season preserved the status quo for another year, but if this continues change will almost have to be made.

We might be 5 or 6 games under .500.

And no.

I don't hate Quade but I'd be all for that. Hendry can't stand and if it means Quade goes also so be it.

Hendry has overstayed his welcome for 2 years.

Yep Hendry should have been fired after that miserable 2008 season.
