I'm pretty sure foreign teams aren't going to give hundreds of roster spots to NBA role players who are there for at most one season, to speak nothing of the drastic pay cut most would have to take.

I'm not so sure about that. How many former good college and NBDL quality players are already playing overseas? If it becomes really apparent that the season is going to be lost I could easily see dozens of teams in the different countries opening up a few roster spots a piece for NBA role players.

The most glaring part of that statement is that if the season is played, many owners will (at least claim to) lose money. I'm not sure how much I believe that claim, but most owners are willing to sacrifice a year for a more beneficial system.

Threatening to cancel the whole season is pants-on-head [expletive]. Stern needs to maintain hope of at least a partial season if he expects the players to negotiate in good faith. If he says "season canceled," the players will say, "welp, see you in July!"

And then a lot of them will need to go overseas or find day jobs.

sure, but if you say "you're not going to play until next November," there is ZERO reason for them to negotiate for awhile.

They get strike money from the union and most players saw this coming, the ones with a good agent probably have been saving. So they could go to anyone of a number of countries and play ball and be fine. Or they could live on strike money and unemployment.

Basketball is second to soccer as an international sport, the players don't need the NBA like football and baseball players need the NFL.

Really? The average basketball player earns a few million a year for 5-6 years. A lot of them aren't going to be cool with "see you in July" and give up one of these years. With the exception of a few superstars, most of these guys earn the bulk of their money on the court. And a lot of these guys spend a crapload of money, probably more than they should. If $100 million atheletes can declare bankruptcy, plenty of NBA players will be feeling some serious pain without a season. Way more than the owners.

Scottie looks like Tiki and Ronde's missing triplet.

Ha. Spot on.

I'd probably have had Rose 6th ahead of Kobe and CP3. Maybe 5th ahead of Dirk, even. No doubt 1-2-3 is James, Howard and Wade, though.
