2011 Chicago Bulls Offseason thread

Yeah, didn't he write a column last week saying how there was no way Howard would go to the Bulls? And on his radio segment, he was saying how there was no way it would happen. I guess something made him be a little less negative about it.

I'd still be shocked if it happened.

He wrote that because rumors were heating up again Saturday night because of KC's report, in the wake of Dwight's trade demand, that the Bulls were in fact going after him.

If KC doesn't shoot it down, you know it has legs.

That said, it looks like Dwight, following those reports, has attempted to make it clear that he isn't interested in coming here. Mind boggling but w/e.

It was said elsewhere in the thread that he also doesn't like big cities, but apparently he'll make an exception for LA.

Take him for a quick ride on the 405 Freeway! He'll change his mind.

A bit coincidental, but on December 10th, twelve of us were in a party limo bus bound from San Diego to the Staples Center to see the LA Kings vs. Dallas. We weren't on the 405, but we nearly flipped over on the 5 freeway about 10 minutes from the stadium. Fire engines, paramedics and a long delay to get everyone checked out. We finally got to our luxury box with 2 minutes left in the 2nd period and just in time to see the last score of the game. My brother in law got the worst of it. He got knocked cold and both of his knees were pretty banged up. Everyone is okay though. That was about 6 hours of travel time to see 23 minutes of hockey. Boo!

Driving/Riding in OC and LA SUCKS!

i mean rip is clearly an upgrade over bogans, but i'm still kind of disappointed that we're settling for guys like this.

i don't really think this fits our actual needs that well. we still badly need a guy who can make plays on his own and create offense so rose doesn't have to do it 100% of the time. also it would have been nice to have a really good 3 point shooter.

rip is kinda "whatever" to me. i really would have loved richardson, and i'm not so sure he wouldn't have taken 4 million less to sign with a uch better team if we had offered it.

Simmons kind of sums up how a lot of us probably feel about Dwight right now...but we still dont get an answer to the question of why he does not want to come here.

2nd time in 18 months that Bill Simmons has written a "[fill in superstar] should go to Chicago if he wants to win" column about a guy who's clearly not coming to Chicago. I feel like there's some dark secret about the Bulls that explains why no one wants to play here that we'll learn later or something.

I'm starting to think there really is something to the "playing in Jordan's shadow" thing.

I think it's simple. Melo wanted to play in NY, Lebron and Bosh wanted to play with Wade, Dirk wanted to stay in Dallas, and Dwight wants to be the star of his team. Yeah, Kobe is in LA now but he's clearly on the downside of his career. Deron is a stud PG, but there's no doubt that would be Dwights team and city if he went there. I think Dwight doesn't want to compete with Rose to be the star, even though clearly he's a better player.

I also heard something about Addidas wanting Dwight and Rose in different cities/markets. Not sure of there's any truth to that and if there is, how it even impacts Dwights decision, but it's interesting nonetheless.

This. Lebron and Dwight are similar in that their basketball decisions are directly related to outside business ventures and hollywood deals. That alone should make every fan of basketball want to root against them.
