i mean, if you get the chance to grab a two cent keiton page (w/o the shooting ability) from the worst program in the MVC, you gotta jump all over that.

I thought Iowa State was the worst program in the MVC

we'll settle this isu/illinois debate once and for all in the CBI. looking forward to it.

God I hope so. No more of this sneaking into the tourney and keeping Bubbles job.

Kind of sucks that Iowa can beat Michigan handily and Wisconsin at their place but then lose at home to Nebraska. That's what happens when you are still building a program I guess.

I can't decide if the officiating was horrible in that game, or if Indiana just didn't copy Wisconsin's defensive strategy to guard the 3 point line, and then when people drive past you just hammer them at the rim and hope the officials swallow the whistle. Indiana only attempted 8 3's tonight and yet Wisconsin only got called for 10 fouls the entire game.

I despise playing at Wisconsin. I don't think I'm the only Big Ten fan with that sentiment.

IU looking good in 7th place in the B1G.

IU will have lots of opportunities to move up and down in the next few weeks. They're already done with Ohio State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Penn State. Only 1 game left against Michigan State and Michigan. There isn't really an automatic win or loss left on the Big 10 schedule for them.

I'm just getting my shots in while I can. :D

I enjoyed it this year.

Nebraska scored on 15 of their final 16 possessions and got 32 points on those 16 possessions.

That's really all that needs to be said.

I'm not sure who is more nerdy looking, Wisconsin's fans or Wisconsin's players. Nerdiest bunch of nerds who ever nerded it up.

Also I love how Tom Crean benched Cody after the 4th foul until 1 minute left in the game. Sure he had 4 fouls and he might have fouled out sooner but you can't keep your best player on the bench that long.

I'm starting to think maybe Crean is the basketball equivalent of Ron Zook. Maybe he should let his assistants do all the actual coaching for him and then he can just handle recruiting and clapping on the sideline. :good:

I was sitting next to some Marquette fans at a bar last night and all they could talk about watching the game was how happy they were that Crean wasn't their coach anymore.

Marquette:

2012: 17-4 (Pomeroy No. 19)

2011: 22-15 (9-9) (Sweet 16) (No. 32)

2010: 22-10 (11-7) (First Round) (No. 33)

2009: 25-10 (12-6) (Second Round) (No. 19)

2008: 25-10 (11-7) (Second Round) (No. 11)

2007: 24-10 (10-6) (First Round) (No. 38)

2006: 20-10 (10-6 Big East) (First Round) (No. 28)

2005: 19-12 (7-9) (NIT) (No. 93)

2004: 19-12 (8-8) (NIT) (No. 80)

2003: 27-5 (14-2) (Final Four) (No. 16)

2002: 26-7 (13-3) (First Round) (N/A)

2001: 15-14 (9-7)

2000: 15-14 (8-8 CUSA) (NIT)

Well, I suppose if you squint the right way, Marquette is better off without Crean.

Ron Zook? C'mon now.

Crean completely failed at game theory last night (if Zeller doesn't foul out, then he was not played enough). Zeller should have been in the game at the under-4 timeout, roughly, and having him at the scorer's bench ready to check in and pulling him back with (approximately) one and one-half minutes left was foolish. However, unfortunately, this conservative style coaching is rather epidemic across sports.

Crean will never be confused with Bob Knight; but he's still above average-ish. A closer approximation of Zook's coaching, ahem, acumen would be Mike Davis (who, unlike Zook, couldn't even recruit well).

Yeah, the Zeller treatment made no sense. Neither did subbing in Remy Abell after he sat for the first 36 minutes of the game. Why not bring in Roth there?

And what happened to Victor Oladipo being a much improved offensive player? He's disappeared in conference. Crean needs to get him involved if this team is going to do anything. Him being able to get to the rim opens up things for everyone else.

Yes, I also should have mentioned Remy Abell's treatment. Abell had not played at all the last two games -- and only two minutes the game before -- yet he is the correct substitution, as a freshman, with four minutes left in a close road game?* Perplexing.

*Note: This is not meant to be in any way derogatory to Abell. He seems like a nice player with a lot of a potential. He's also shown an ability to take, and make, some shots that show some "onions" for a freshman.

A bit of hyperbole never hurt anyone. :hello:

In general, I still find myself not understanding Crean's sub patterns and timeout usage in multiple games.
