Starlin better be showing up to the park early tomorrow to work on his defense.

I hate seeing this before Gameday has updated. I'll go ahead and guess nothing good happens with Upton.

You have chosen...poorly.

I was referring to the 2nd batter of the inning grounding out to 2B, Castro should have been able to turn a double play but had a hard time handling the ball after catching it to make a throw to 1B.

In latin, premature spoiler pessimism starts with an "I".

In the post game Quade says Pena sprained his thumb while fielding.

Thank goodness for a reasonable explanation.

Going to the game tomorrow, and can't say I'll have high hopes with Wood and Marmol unavailable, and Pena with an injury.

Maybe Cashner will just toss a no-no and everyone can have some rest.

I still don't think it would have been a terrible move (probably because I feel Reed Johnson might have a little more in the tank than he might actually have) but it would be incredibly unconventional. And part of that reason is that there are a thousand variables to consider in that situation (time/score, splits of both batters, splits of pitcher, defensive change, burning a bench player, possibility of extra innings). It's one of those decisions that is really hard to determine and so going with convention and not making waves is usually called for. Hopefully Pena won't be out more than a day or two at most because while the starting lineup may not suffer that much the bench will be stretched incredibly thin without him.

I just don't think it reflects well on the staff's perception of Pena if he's lifted in game 4 based on performance matchups.

Soto needs to stay in there if Pena is going to miss any time.

Was at the game.

Man, what an empty park. Many empty sections in the grandstand. Bleachers were full. Whats happening? Ticket prices? Beer prices? As a young fan, I've never seen this before.

Is Marmol off for sure?

People are sick of paying top dollar for a less-than-top product. Plus it was cold and a Monday early in the season.

Ah, youth. The Cubs are no strangers to an empty Wrigley, especially when it's awful, awful weather on a Monday against a crappy team and the Cubs themselves aren't inspiring much this season.

Got a tweet on my feed (lol) that said today was the lowest home attendance since Sept. 2002.

It's a return back to the 90's. There was a sizable jump after the 2003 NLCS appearance but I guess all the enthusiasm has gone away.

Or much of the 80's and the 70's.

I can't remember the last time we played a monday day game that wasn't opening day.

Yea day games on a Mon, Tues, or Weds haven't happened at home for quite a while. Usually Mon-Weds are night games, and Thurs-Sun are day games when playing at home.

There's a night game in May on a Saturday. That one shocked me, I know it's a nationally televised game but when is the last time the Cubs played a home night game on a Friday or Saturday.

Holy crap, I didn't know that. I didn't even think the Cubs were allowed to schedule weekend games after 5:05 or whatever the time was. I hope this game gets a really good response and they get the OK to do more. Don't get me wrong, I like the day games from Friday-Sunday too, but mixing in some night games would be cool too.
