Aram and Silva involved in dugout scuffle during ST game

After the first inning of today's game, Carlos Silva and Aramis Ramirez reportedly got into a scuffle in the dugout. Silva was the starting pitcher, and gave up 6 runs in the 1st inning with the help of 3 errors, one of which was by Ramirez. It is unclear who the aggressor was.

If it happened during the season it might matter a bit, but this is nothing. Probably evolved from Silva being frustrated that he isn't guaranteed a spot in the rotation. I think the most likely result of this is that Silva gets traded falong with cash in exchange for nothing or is released.

When I first heard that there had been a scuffle, I didn't know who it involved and was praying it wasn't Castro or some of the other younger guys. When I find out Silva was involved, I was borderline jubilant, as this can't exactly help him make the rotation, if you ask me.

 

As far as Aramis goes, I really, really, really hope he doesn't turn into the scapegoat this year. But, I gotta admit, I think he's going to have a very solid season and I really feel like we're going to be in the thick of things come the trade deadline anyway, with the lack of elite teams within the division.

He's Hispanic, he hits for power and he's prone to nagging injuries. The only way he'd be more perfectly set up for the scapegoat role is if he struck out a bunch. But we can just cover up for that by saying he's "not clutch."
