I hope we get some indication of what the Cubs' offer was at some point.

I'm sure it'll come out. I'd be willing to bet Theo didn't want to go 10 years and that was a dealbreaker.

so, the Angels - who plays?

1B: pujols

OF: wells - trout - hunter

DH: trumbo, abreu

i really wonder if they'd part with Bourjos somehow; i'd for sure kick the tires, if that was a possibility

And that's not including Morales.

The Cardinals had Stan Musial call Pujols to try to talk him into staying.

Oooh this could get Cards fans to hate Pujols. That'd be outstanding. Could've been a Cardinals legend like STAN THE MAN NOW YOU'RE JUST A HIRED GUN LIKE THE REST OF EM! BERKMAN WILL DO BETTER THAN YOU ANYWAY

This bums me out because I was hoping the Cardinals would have overpayed and been tied up with Pujols' overvalued contract for the next decade.

Everyone here in the office are fine with him going to Anaheim at $25mil/year. They're mostly ticked because Pujols claimed "it wasn't about the money".

It wasn't about the money. It was about Ryan Theriot.

It's already happening. A post from GRB:

You guys are all too nice. He's a greedy prick. He did turn his back on St. Louis, and now instead of sweeping all the rumors in the past that he's been an [expletive] to fans, team mates, and others can come out. Everyone has always given Albert the benefit of the doubt because he's our guy, but where there is smoke there is fire and I believe everything I've heard about him being a dick. Good bye dick.

I thought about going with the NOW EVERYTHING CAN COME OUT THAT WE'VE BEEN HIDING ABOUT HIM FOR SO LONG, THE INGRATE but figured there isn't much dirt on Pujols. Little did I forget that every psychopath has some story about how a player wouldn't sign 6 balls for him so he's a prick.

HE NEEDED TO SELL THOSE AUTOGRAPHS TO BUY BLURAYS FOR HIS FAMILY

Crap, if Miami outbid LAA, they'll outbid us for Fielder for sure.

I hope Prince really wants to come to Chicago.

I'm guessing that 10/275 didn't include a NTC, and they won't do it for Fielder either.

I don't really care what the offer was myself.

I'm just curious for a few reasons...mainly seeing how hard we went with AAV.

Rosenthal is reporting that the Marlins aren't all that interested, since he's not hispanic.

Miami also doesn't want Fielder. They wanted a latin player due to their fan base. They can't sell Fielder to their fans like they could have with Pujols.

Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com was told by a high-ranking Marlins' official that the team "is not and will not" be pursuing free agent first baseman Prince Fielder.

Rosenthal was told that Fielder can't drive the Latin market they were hoping to pull in if they were successful in their efforts to sign Albert Pujols. The market for Fielder has been slow to develop until now, but look for that to change in a hurry. While there's no clear leader in the clubhouse right now, the Mariners, Cubs, Blue Jays and Rangers are all potential fits.

I doubt the Rangers will sign him but I also don't think we have the best shot. However, if he wants to win (or at least get to the playoffs) and become a bigger name he will play in Chicago.

According to Phil Rogers, Angels thought about Soriano before acquiring Pujols.

That's like saying "I considered McDonald's for dinner, but instead went to Chicago Cut". WTF?
