Angels To Sign Albert Pujols

By Tim Dierkes [December 8 at 8:56am CST]

The Angels are the bridesmaid no more. Albert Pujols will sign with the Angels for ten years and $250-260MM, tweets Yahoo's Tim Brown. He'll receive a full no-trade clause. Pujols decided this morning, writes Brown.

Im sure this will be debunked within the hour.

I love it...especially if the Marlins sign CJ, paving the way for us to sign Prince.

Either way, Pujols out of St. Louis ftw

There were a couple writers saying this morning that the Angels wanted Pujols and WIlson.

Pujols to the Angels or really any team in the AL is great for the Cubs. Let's hope this is true.

And then we'll sign Fielder and be the big swinging dick in the NL Central like we should be.

Yea, I know. Hence "if."

If they both sign in LA, though, holy [expletive].

Will this push NL teams further toward going with DH?

Great question. I don't even care anymore about the DH. I just want the same rules for all games, especially with constant interleague play.

Either way, Pujols out of St. Louis ftw

I wanted him to re-sign with the cards. That way in 3-4 years when his numbers start getting bad his contract would be a handcuff to them.

awesome

and i know some will disagree, but to me that's a horrible contract.

Horrible seems too far, but it certainly isn't good.

i guess that's true, considering they got the best hitter in baseball. still though, 250+ for a guy over 30 is terrifying.

oh well, i'm sure berkman will continue to OPS 1.000 for the cardinals

I'm possibly the biggest Pujols advocate around, and I don't think you'll find many people that will disagree. 10/200 made some people queasy, 10/250 is way out there. The only way they can even come close to coming out ahead is if there's some heavy deferrals and he hits the optimistic projections for his performance.

I'd rather they just not have the best hitter in the game.
