A friend of Prince Fielder's says the free-agent slugger is very interested in the #Cubs.

And he evidently thinks Go Cubs Go is a snazzy, little ditty.

Confirmed @JCrasnick: The Pujols' camp has informed the #Marlins they are out. but Pujols still has 3 offers in excess of $200 million.

Two others?

Lozano's right middle finger and his left middle finger, as he tries to extract more from the Cardinals.

It should be posted here, because it was reported, but damn, Davidoff and these other reporters have been grasping at straws for a few days now. A team is in, 5 minutes later the same team is out is being reported by someone else. Now Davidoff is referencing a "a friend". Just a tad frustrated, I guess.

I think its glorious. think of how cardinal fans are viewing this.

GRB was fantastic when there seemed to be some Marlins momentum yesterday.

Hey man, prostitutes don't pay for themselves.

I wouldn't be surprised if the team execs do some of it just to [expletive] with these guys. It's probably hectic enough trying to hammer out these deals and jocky for position and then you have these media pudwacks marching around bugging them every 5 minutes.

I'd much prefer it if Pujols left the Cards, but the price tag has gotten to the point where they'll be hurting themselves long term (barring a really creative deferment structure) by re-signing him.

The rational Cards fans I have talked to today are saying exactly this.

This is the Cardinals. Pujols will take the big deal for ego purposes, then retire after five years just as his skills start to erode, taking them off the hook.

It's payback for all those years they got the best him him for well below fair market value. And it puts an end to all the "Albert loves STL so much he will overlook the money" nonsense.

I also think that the Cards brass putting off an extension/expecting another hometown discount has gotten them to this point.

Source with knowledge of #Mariners' plans believes they will make strong effort to sign Prince Fielder.

#Marlins saying they plan to make a run at Prince Fielder now.

Start to erode? That ship has sailed. I'd bet he'll be an .800 OPS hitter five or six years from now.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if teams send down some flunky to pass off some faulty info, just to see how fast it shows up on Twitter. It's probably a part of some drinking game the execs are playing all week.

There is the whole "Babe Ruth traded to the Yankees" thing at play here. Card fans are thinking about it, whether it's stupid or not. If Pujols became a Cub, the outcry alone would be worth a year or two of the probable horrid last years of his deal. How about the Card fan that posts all those video's on Youtube? His reaction would be absolutely phenomenal.

Omg I totally forgot about that loser.

Knowing his Edmonds reaction, I'd love to see his Pujols video!

David Schuster spent 5 minutes on the Score laughing at rumors that the Cubs were candidates for any name free agents (Pujols, Fielder, Wilson, Buerhle).

Meh, it seems that everyone on the Score thinks that Ricketts is flat broke and the Cubs should end up with a 90 mil payroll.

Well, most of the score people are idiots, so no news there.
