LATE GAMES

Arizona (12-3) @ San Francisco (5-10)

Gotta hand it to the Cardinals. They haven't missed a beat without Boldin and Warner. :hello:

So Bears hold strength of victory tiebreaker over the Falcons?

I believe the after division record (which would be tied at 9-3 in the Bears won and Falcons lost), the next tiebreaker is record vs. common opponents (minimum of 4)

Here are the 4 common opponents between the Falcons and Bears:

Eagles (Falcons lost, Bears won)

Packers (Falcons won, Bears won twice)

Carolina (Falcons went 1-1, Bears won)

Seattle (Falcons won, Bears lost)

That would put the Falcons at 3-2, the Bears 4-1, thus winning the tiebreaker over them. If the Saints won, they'd win the South and win the conference record tiebreaker over the Bears (10-2 vs. 9-3)

Meaningless game for the Titans Sunday. It won't happen, but I'd like to see them start Rusty Smith so he can get some more game action.

I'm far more interested in the offseason and what's going to happen with the Vince soap opera and the coaching staff than this game, though. And I'll bet the players will be as well, which is good news for the Colts.

This is a terrible tiebreaker if the Falcons can count the Panthers twice and the Bears have to count the Packers twice.

The Bears win a tiebreaker with the Falcons but lose a tiebreaker with the Saints (if the Saints win the South).

Clinch NFC South and first round bye:

1) ATL win

2) NO loss

Clinch homefield advantage in NFC:

1) ATL win

2) NO loss + CHI loss

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here, but in that last scenario, I'm pretty sure that ATL winning is inconsequential. If NO and Chi both lose, ATL gets the #1 seed, right?

EDIT: Nevermind...I see...those are either/or scenarios...

Dude looks like a pedophile in that photo rather than just a pervert.

Wasn't Sterger threatening legal action on the league if they didn't suspend Favre? I was assuming that was part of the reason the decision was being held up so long.

I think I heard she wanted him punished, not that she was demanding a suspension.

Eagles season ticket holders are being told that their wild-card game will be the Saturday night game on January 8th.

It was almost certainly going to be Philadelphia or Indianapolis (if they make it) hosting that game. They weren't going to give that slot to Kansas City or the St. Louis/Seattle winner. The other three slots are harder to predict.

I imagine STL/SEA will be the early game Sunday since they are playing this week on NBC already and NBC has both Saturday games. The Chiefs will probably be the early game Saturday and the Colts will be the late game on Sunday.

That makes sense. Figured the Colts and Eagles would get the 2nd games on both days.

Simmons was talking about this on his podcast Monday. NBC has two games (both Saturday), while FOX and CBS each have one Sunday. Obviously, FOX gets an NFC game and CBS gets an AFC game. However, NBC was allowed first (and last) choice of games for Saturday. So, of course, it makes sense to pick the 3-6 NFC game first, since either AFC game is likely a good matchup (unless Jacksonville sneaks in), and the NFC West game will likely be terrible. So, NBC will pick the Eagles vs. the 6 seed (a 95% chance of either Packers or Giants) as the Saturday night matchup, sticking Fox with the NFC West winner/NFC South loser matchup. CBS will choose the better AFC matchup (likely IND-BAL/PIT/NYJ), leaving NBC with KC-BAL/PIT/NYJ for Saturday afternoon, which is still somewhat intriguing.

True, but his fine wasn't actually for misconduct with Sterger. The statement the NFL released said that they couldn't find/prove any misconduct and that the $50k fine was because Favre wouldn't cooperate with the investigation in a timely manner or something. So basically they did not punish Favre for what he did with Sterger.

Maybe I'm misreading but if FOX has the early Sunday wildcard game and it is in Seattle are they going to play a game at 10 am local time?

I think that's wrong. FOX was supposed to have the early Sunday start last year during Wild Card weekend, but they flipped with CBS when Arizona hosted the Packers. There's no way they'd play a game on the west coast at 10 in the morning.

Doesn't bother me. I'm at the bar at 9am securing my seat.

I'm surprised a Minnesota fan hasn't gone all Tonya Harding on Favre's knee or cranium to make sure he doesn't play on Sunday. Does anyone besides Favre care if Favre starts on Sunday?

Haha. Ironically enough, that's where I read that Favre was taking daily tests to get clearance to play on Sunday. You win.
