Why did Lloyd Carr get forced out again?

He didn't. He had wanted to retire for a couple of years.

We better hire some [expletive] amazing offensive and defensive coordinators.

I will say I did like what Hoke did at SDSU. I know tons of UCLA fans who had him high on their list for replacements if/when Neu is fired.

But yeah, very underwhelming for Michigan.

i'm pretty elated Hoke took the job, because there were no other Michigan Men out there and there was the very real specter of us just going forth coach-less as a result

Hoke will do well at Michigan.

Probably not well enough to satisfy the psycho portion of the fan base, but well.

Michigan crumbling as a top tier program is hilarious and also somewhat tragic

its not as fun when the villain has his teeth pulled out

I'll give more of a [expletive] though if Illinois shows any signs of trying to play football competitively on a year-in-year-out basis

is he really a Michigan Man? he's not an alum. being an assistant there is enough? I guess if a Buckeye alum/assistant can become the standard by which all Michigan Men are measured, Hoke can be allowed into the club.

I saw espn compared him to Bo. Hopefully, Hoke's UM career is identical in length and number of national titles.

oh, and I heard a rumor that Denard is transferring (which everyone assumed) and QBForce flunked out. Who will Gardner's backup be?

Posted

I think Denard will end up staying. I think Hokes gets in his ear and tells him he can be the next Michael Vick.

Forcier is officially gone from the program per David Brandon in the press conference today. Hopefully, that will be the last time Michigan associates itself with the Forcier family. 2 brothers, 2 transfers.

I'm curious to if he can do anything to salvage this years recruiting class.

On Monday, UCLA will announce the hiring of former 49ers OC Mike Johnson as the new OC. The only problem is that Norm Chow is still the OC.

We've got 13 recruits right now, and it sounds like 10 of them are solid. The other 3 sound like they still end up at Michigan, but there's a chance they don't. We could take 20 in this class, but I don't see how Hoke pulls 7 more recruits out of his ass in 3 weeks.

Also, sounds like Tate Forcier has enrolled in Community College and is hoping to get back into Michigan. Probably not going to happen, but we'll see.

What is Stanford doing with their position?

Any chance somebody like Mike Martz shows up on a college head coaching radar? Offensive gurus seem to be all the rage in college. NFL coordinators with failed stints as head coaches tend to be strong candidates for college positions, and Martz does have a lot of Pac-10/California ties.

One of the San Diego newspaper guys speculated that Martz might have been a candidate for the SDSU job but theypromoted from within. I think he'll get a look from some college programs.

Tom Dienhart is reporting that Chow is going to Utah.

Athletic director Dave Brandon said he had discussions with both of them, but insisted Harbaugh and Miles weren't offered the job in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday night.

The next day, he seemed to try to knock the luster off the coach who left Stanford to lead the San Francisco 49ers and the one who stayed at LSU.

"All that glitters is not gold when it comes to some coaches," Brandon said. "A two- or three-hour meeting with a coach uncovers much more than you could learn scanning the Internet or sifting through statistics.

Good to see that Michigan is ripping their own alumni in the press.

Teddy Greenstein[/url]"]Until now, it has been reported that Michigan merely made a third-party inquiry to Fitzgerald.

The reality is that Michigan's interest in Fitzgerald was so sincere, representatives of the school laid out salary parameters, according to sources.

........

Had negotiations ensued, Michigan likely would have offered around $3 million, according to sources
