Right now if I am Michigan I make offers to Gary Patterson (despite signing the extention), Chris Petersen, Urban Meyer, Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, Jimmy Johnson, and the corpse of Woody Hayes. 1st one to accept the offer gets the job.

Michigan probably should have kept Rich Rodriguez if they didn't have Harbaugh already in the fold.

Bingo. That was my opinion the whole time also. You're better off giving him one more year to see if it works rather than getting your 3rd option or worse and having another rebuild with the wrong personnel for the system.

It's gotta be Hoke now, right?

ya think?

I know the AD is relatively new but he should be canned for making this happen. There doesn't seem to be a more disorganized program in division 1 football right now.

Unless Hoke goes to Stanford.

what's worst about it is the unflinching trust the majority of the fanbase seems to have in Dave Brandon, for whatever reason. oblivious to the crippling effect this will have (or already has had) on our recruiting class, it's somehow a virtue that he's taking his sweet time to pick a successor

"you don't get to be as successful as he was in business, without having a well-executed plan and sticking to it"

yeah, ok, pizzas. i'm sold, he can do no wrong.

that sounds great. but it's hard to sign a new coach to a contract until the current coach is fired. and if the target coach is in a bowl game and wants to coach that bowl, there isn't much you can do.

this could have been handled much better, i think. but it's not as simple as "don't fire richrod until you know you have harbaugh." that's not really possible.

Agreed but you should have a viable contengency plan if that one falls through. I don't think Michigan did.

It's actually very possible, as most organizations make sure they have their ducks in a line before they make a move, or at least fire their guy early enough to be in on the bigger pool of candidates. The combination of waiting so long and still not knowing they could get their guy reflects very poorly on their management skills.

certainly michigan should have fired richrod earlier. that might have been the biggest mistake of all. but i don't think you can know for certain that you have the next guy locked up until he actually signs the contract. it's happened too many times in my memory and i'm positive there are many, many more that i (or we) never knew about.

Sounds like they have already moved on to Brady Hoke which is no real surprise. If they fail to get him they might as well cancel this next season.

yay..........

Hoke is the younger brother of Jon Hoke, who is currently the secondary coach of the Chicago Bears
Both Hokes were starters on the Ball State defense during the 1978 season when they went 10-1 (that was my first year as a student there).

Brady [expletive] Hoke. You fire Rich Rod and hire Brady [expletive] Hoke who has a losing record as a head coach. Nice work Brandon. Way to go big with that hire.

Keep that resume handy, Brady. You're going to need it again in three years.

Brady Hoke couldn't even get a job at Indiana or Minnesota, but we hire him because he's a "Michigan Man."

Sweet.
