I'm trying to decide which game was worse to attend, this game or the game last year against Cincinnati. I'm gonna say this game was better for 2 reasons:

1. In this game there was actually something to cheer about, as we managed to make the Pats go 3 and out on our first drive. In the Cincinnati game, I believe the Bengals got the ball first, scored a TD, then the Bears went 3 and out and the Bengals scored another TD and the rout was on.

2. This game was at home, so while there was a ton of Pats fans at the game, it was better than being in Cincinnati with dumbass Bengals fans yelling "Who dey?" in my face.

I'm guessing it wasn't ridiculously cold and snowing on October 25

Tom Brady throwing the ball all over the place was not a surprise to me. He did fine even though it was a blizzard. But the Bears were not able to exploit New England's sad defense. If Brady could throw in the snow, the Bears could have also.

Yeah it was an ton of things going against the bears that did us in. First of all the Pats offense is a horrible matchup with our cover 2 as some pointed out. It's even worse when you can't get pressure with your front 4. It's not schemes it's not playcalling it's te fact that the Pats are simply more talented. They have an all star offensive line that pretty much forces you to blitz in order to get pressure. If you don't get pressure someone will get open. It's very easy to find those holes in the zone. Brady also threw a couple of deep balls to keep the Bears from cheating. On the offensive side of the ball, Cutler had an awful game. His throws were off all game. I don't know if it was the wind or what (although Brady didn't seem to have trouble). Because of that the Bears really couldn't get anything going or take advantage of the weak Pats run d.

The one thing I don't understand is what the he'll happened to the run d? That's what really killed us. That was a piss poor effort by the linebackers and d line.

Also although they didn't matter, it was sickening to see how many dropped interceptions the bears had. Chris Harris might have changed the momentum of the game had he caught that one int.

the front 7 got pushed around wherever the pats wanted them to be, you can't stop a run game with that happening

I didn't realize how devastating that packers loss was for them. Despite the embarrassment the bears can clinch the division with a win over Minnesota and a packers loss to NE. The reason why is because it would clinch the division tiebreaker over the Pakers, which is the first tiebreaker after head to head. If the Bears in fact lose to Minnesota, it opens the division back up and makes the packers bears game probably necessary for division.

Thus, next weeks game against Minnesota is as close to a must win game as they come without actually being must win. This is the biggest Bears game since the NFC Championship game

How many times is that phrase going to get used? People have been saying that for like three of the last four games. They're all big down the stretch.

well that was about as bad as it could have gone, but considering we got another gift from the football gods we're still in amazing shape for the playoffs, thanks detroit, it really shouldn't have been that difficult when rodgers went out, but you made it as hard as humanly possible.

and we dont have to play in minnesota either, welp, we'll figure out a way to screw this up.

It's true though. They haven't made the playoffs since then and this is a fantastic chance to clinch a playoff spot. If they lose this game against Minnesota, it's a big step back and makes it so we probably have to win the GB game as we won't have the tiebreaker.

so, if we go into the last game up by one game on the packers, assuming we've beaten minnesota, we can't not win the division?

Right because the worst that can happen is a bears loss to tie in record, as well as head to head. The bears will win the division record 5-1 vs. 4-2

So if the bears lose next week and packers lose as well, the bears cannot clinch with just a win the next week against the jets. They would need the packers to lose to giants. Assuming both teams win it would come down to that last game and I believe the packers are ahead in the tiebreaker after division. So as you can see the road gets a LOT more difficult if we lose next week

if we win against minnesota and green bay loses we can clinch next week. if we win against the vikings AND the jets we have it clinched. basically our magic number is 2 now. i think.

if we win next week then lose and green bay wins i think they can still win the division if they beat us in week 17 because we'd have the same record, same divisional record (it would be 4-2 for each) and after that i'm not sure how the tiebreakers really work out (conference record would be muddled and up in the air)

Yeah,

Beating the Vikes puts the Bears at 5-0 in division, clinching the second tiebreaker over the Pack, in the event Greeb Bay wins week 17 (and therefore splits tiebreaker #1)

There is about a 5% chance the Packers beat New England next weekend. So if the Bears do beat Minnesota they clinch the division next week.

The only way the Packers can win the division if the Bears beat the Vikings is if the Packers win out and the Bears lose to the Jets at home.

if the Bears beat MN and loose to GB, their divisional record will be 5-1, not 4-2.

I am going to post a scenario here so stay with me here..

Giants beat Minnesota tomorrow.

Week 15 - Bears and Packers lose next week, Giants beat Philly and Tampa beats Detroit.

Week 16 - Bears beat the Jets at home and the Packers beat the Giants. The Vikings beat the Eagles. Tampa beats the Seahawks.

Week 17 -The Giants beat the Redskins. Tampa losses to New Orleans. That would set up the winner of the Packer-Bears game would not only make the playoffs but get a bye as well. The loser would be out.

I need a life.
