This is awesome!

Multiple billboards congratulating TCU on its Rose Bowl victory popped up in Columbus, Ohio, several days after the Horned Frogs defeated Wisconsin 21-19.

The billboards seem to be a jab at Ohio State president E. Gordon Gee, who had made derogatory comments about the quality of non-automatic qualifying schools such as TCU and Boise State.

kind of a bummer, he was a good announcer.

one has to wonder why mike tirico keeps getting plum assignments from espn; his personal conduct has reportedly been much worse.

Yeah, I was saddened to see that. He was a very good announcer, especially for football. Not saying he didn't deserve or whatever, but his announcing skills will be missed.

I've never understood the love for Franklin. He's good for a bunch of factual/name/pronunciation errors in every broadcast, and that grates on me 100x more than Joe Buck's pontificating.

Verne Lundquist is 100x worse than Franklin in that regard and I rarely hear anything but good things about his announcing.

Verne annoys me as much as Gruden and that's saying something.

If you watch SEC football casually and don't pay the closest attention to the broadcast, Verne is fine. You just need to be multitasking as you watch.

Texas Tech has instituted self-imposed penalties for text message violations from 2007-2009, which the NCAA has accepted. The penalties include two years probation.

Given how they handled Auburn and OSU this sounds about right.

He's better since Tebow graduated.

How does Les Miles get so lucky? Use your 1 challenge on a play in the first half that, even if upheld, would result in 1st and goal from inside the 1 and was fairly clearly not a TD. But 15 minutes later, the booth officials tell the field officials that they actually decided to review it before Miles used his challenge. How long before LSU treats him like PSU treats Joe Pa and just takes away his headset on game days?

They deserved to lose the time out purely based on stupidity even if technically the booth official did call for the replay first. Even if it was a TD, challenging the call really sends a statement that Miles didn't trust his team to gain less than one yard on three plays.

So many people love to criticize Miles, and yes, I've done it too from time to time...

but he gets it done.

Check this out

For LSU that is 11 wins for the fourth time in six seasons. Miles is now 5-1 in bowl games with LSU outscoring opponents 215-87.

Usually, it seems like Verne is multitasking when he's commentating..

Les 'gets it done', because he's a great recruiter....he 'get's it done' in spite of his in-game decision making.

Game day is here. Also, Auburn picked up a 5* and two 4*s over the past few days. If the next few weeks go as expected, they will likely end up with another top 5 recruiting class. War Eagle!
