hawkeyecub has to be a happy dude tonight.

I'm kicking myself in the ass, imagine the odds I could've gotten on them both to win tonight. I took Iowa on the centsports moneyline but [expletive]...

Agree with you guys though, at least I think that's what you're saying. To me the final 4th down attempt looked incomplete but I didn't think there was anything to overturn it. I was shouting before the pick that we had to move th epocket and make him uncomfortable. We finally did it and he just chucked it up.

I think I've reveresed course though. Forget Newton and Mallett. Well I'll take them but I want Gabbert in the 2nd round. He and Joe Webb can duel it out.

I don't think Gabbert will be there in the 2nd round. I really like what I saw out of him for the most part.

Yeah, I don't see how he falls out of the 1st round.

I haven't seen the guy play much but his numbers aren't all that impressive. Low 60's completion percentage, sub 7 YPA, 16 TD/9 INT.

1 TD/2 INT in the bowl game. I'd have to think there's some red flags that could easily bump him down to the 2nd round. Teams hesitate to take 4 QB's in the first and he's not in the top three, right?

Gabbert has always given scouts woodies, but he has never had elite numbers. He was one of the top QB recruits coming out of HS and his HS numbers weren't anything special. I understand the talent is there, but I have yet to see him put it all together in a single season.

Almost everything I've seen has him #2.

Almost everything I've seen has Luck, Mallett, Newton. He's 4th on Mel's big board among non-seniors. So I guess a lot depends on who goes into the draft. Seems to me he'd slip into the 2nd fairly easily. How does he compare with Jimmy Clausen last year?

2004 was the last time 4 QBs went into the 1st round: Manning, Rivers, Ben, Losman.

One of these things is not like the others....

It's going to happen this year. Someone is going to take Locker in the 1st. Maybe Seattle?

I didn't get to see the whole game, but if that was it for Gabbert at Mizzou it was...uninspiring. Not really his fault, though.

That was probably the best game of his career. He was slinging it all over the field, making great throws, finding the open guys. The first pick was a dropped TD by Jackson. The second one was his only mistake of the game.

Yes, more of this, less of how good he is. Plz come back Blaine.

Sorry, I meant his career, not last night. Should've made that more clear.

Oh I see now, my fault.

I'd love to see what that arm could do if he were throwing bombs downfield to a J-Mac type player.

Right, which is why history will probably treat him unfairly. Once Daniel, Maclin, Coffman, etc. got Missouri on the verge of being a national champion, that was the only thing Gabbert could do to top Daniel. Unfortunately, he never had the type of players Daniel did and he was too inconsistent.

I just think the combinatin of not really amazing stats and only 2 years of starting would be hold some people back. Compare him to Jay Cutler, who played a hell of a lot more against better competition in the SEC, and for the worst program in the SEC. It took coming back for his senior year to give him a real shot at the 1st round. Unless you are playing for a QB factory/national champion like USC or putting up better numbers, teams are very hesitant to take underclassmen without 3 years of starting. You'd have to comp him up against an Aaron Rodgers who only started 2 years, but he did a lot more in those 2 years, was clearly #2 and slipped very late in the first.

I wasn't on the Gabbert bandwagon cause I had not seen him play much. Watching last night I can see how some people have him as the 2nd QB in the next draft. He made some very impressive throws last night.

What does the talent level look like if he returns? If he is a late 1st early 2nd this year, it may be a great idea to return and boost himself into the top of the 1st.

Also, what teams in the 2nd half of the 1st round are likely taking a QB? Miami or Jacksonville?

I agree with all this and hope he comes back. Despite having all the physical tools (6'5", can scramble, still has room to fill out more), big arm, good accuracy and a good work ethic, he's still lacking in his decision-making. And maybe he's lacking in Winning Like Tebow, I dunno.

But if a bunch of teams are looking for quarterbacks, this could be his year.
