I'm really confused. What's going on for those watching?

UNC had half of their field goal unit on the field while the offense was trying to spike the ball. They got the play off with 1 second left, but were charged the 5-yard penalty. Refs originally said game was over because the penalty was on the offense, but then decided to review the play because there looked to be time left on the clock when UNC spiked the ball.

How do you declare the game over and then freaking review something? If the game isn't over, don't declare it over!

I don't blame Gerald Williams for flinging his helmet. This is incredible BS.

If the penalty is on North Carolina isn't there a runoff? Or is that NFL only?

I'm thought it existed in the NCAA, but like the NFL, only for certain penalties or something.

Thanks. I'm listening on the radio and they finally explained it once they figured out what was going on. That was horribly handled.

Well that's dumb.

So, you can't review a play that is whistled dead on the field, but re-evaluating whether the game actually came to an end is cool

They need to use some logic in saying what is and is not reviewable. And don't declare a game over if you're not sure it is.

Same thing for NFL, as evidenced by the DAL-ARI game.

I didn't see the Dallas/Arizona game.

Technically he is correct. The game was over until the challenge was made. If no challenge, the game is over.

If the game was over, a challenge couldn't have been made because the game is over. Technically the game was not over because there was still time to make the challenge.

ARI had an illegal formation penalty as they spiked the ball for a FG attempt to win the game (eligible rec. covered, I think). There was only 10 seconds left at the time of the spike, with ARI having no time outs, so if there was a run-off, the game would have ended, but apparently the illegal formation penalty didn't have a 10 sec runoff due to everyone being set.

Dooley's on the hot seat at the very least if they end up losing this game. That whole final drive by UNC was a complete disaster by the Vols.

Not a chance Dooley's on the hot seat. He's playing against a better team and we shouldn't even be in the position we're in. UNC should have won this thing fairly easily in regulation.

I never knew that. That's dumb too, to be honest.
