@SethEmerson Tennessee is now 6-2 in games they won this year.

Haha. I bet they feel like John McClane. "How can the same [expletive] happen to the same guy twice?"

That was my first thought during UNC's scramble to the line after the running play – could we possibly have an ending like the LSU game. I didn't believe it would happen again, but sure enough it did.

That Kansas State excessive celebration penalty was pretty horrible. The ref told the kid, "you made a mistake there, buddy" after the touchdown.

Just saw the replay of the Tennessee game. 9 guys on the line (2 wide), one calling the snap, a holder and the kicker, although I never actually saw the kicker, just assumed he's there. Then there are 5 other guys running off the field. 17 guys on the field. Also saw the ref calling the game over. Whoops.

Crying guy gets away with the throat slash on more than 1 occasion, yet K-State gets 15 yards for a salute? They say there's an entire page in the rule book covering unsportsmanlike behavior. Maybe they should add another.

Bray did the throat slash more than once? Hadn't heard that. I'd be fine with a throat slash getting a 15 yard penalty, but that salute shouldn't have gotten anything.

I saw it once. There were certainly other gestures, but only one throat slash I saw.

Beauty of it all is that it was a Big 10 crew for both the Pinstripe and Music City. The two games were an abomination of officiating. Wonder if those refs were Leaders or Legends?

I knew he did the spinning fingers by the head thing multiple times because Tim Priest was worried he'd get flagged for it. Only heard about one throat slash, though.

Yeah, he did the "Going Loco" thing a few times, and they also had another kind of saltue that I saw him, Gerald Jones, and Denarius Moore all do as well.

Big 12 looking good so far in the bowl games.

So if you're running out of time, you just need to get the C and QB lined up and have your entire bench run on the field. As long as the ball is snapped and spiked with 1 second left, you effectively get a time out & 5-yard penalty? Good to know.

why not just spike it with the one second left to stop the clock? you don't really gain an advantage with the penalty.

exactly. it was third down, not fourth.....all north carolina had to do was spike it.

he's saying that according to the current rules, you just need those 2 players to stop the clock and lose the yardage. hell, it probably doesn't need to be the center or qb, just the 2 first players that can get there. certainly it takes more time to have the whole team line up correctly and avoid the penalty.

It would take more time to organize a penalty to stop the clock or get a pair of random players to spike the ball than it would for the QB to spike the ball. North Carolina didn't get any advantage by committing that penalty.

I've been looking through the rule book because I'm an exciting person, and there seems to be so many different interpretations of that play that I can't really fault the refs for any call they made. In my opinion they made the right decision though but like I said, they could have made almost any decision on that one and one could have argued that they were right.

no, but the way i see it the first idiot that can get to the ball could hike it to anyone in particular, who could spike it, regardless of the status, location or number of other players on the field. you would lose some yards, but the clock would stop and you would have time to get your field goal unit out there. this couldnt happen in the NFL because of the 10 sec runoff.
