Same. We have looked so good and then I remember our schedule.

@ ATL

vs. SF

@ DET

@ NE

vs. NYG

vs. CHI (Can't wait to go to this game)

that's not really that bad. they have two really hard games, two games that should be layups and then two games against pretty good teams that are both at home.

The Packer fans around here are even worse than Bear fans for self-flagellation.

Guys. Your team is going to sail into the playoffs.

Packers point differential is +106, which leads the league. The Steelers are the next closest at +70.

If only Matthews didn't get hurt in the 3rd quarter of that Washington game, we'd be in real good shape right now.

Seriously, we could easily be undefeated right now.

Who would have thought the Titans would completely melt down and Randy Moss wouldn't be involved in any way? I believe Vince has finally done enough to convince even Bud Adams to send him on his way. It's a shame, he's an exceptionally talented player, he just can't get it all together. Here's a good recap of the circus-esque atmosphere from last night. Looks like Rusty Smith as the starter for the majority of the rest of the season. He looked ok yesterday, but was clearly a rookie.

As for the game, the offense looked horrid and the defense was pretty mediocre. Penalties really hurt us (along with a couple of blatant holding penalties not called late in the game against Washington), but we played like crap.

We've gone from a team I thought was a shoe-in to make the playoffs before the San Diego game to probably struggling to top .500 just three games later.

Such is life in the NFL. The highs are high, and the lows? Very low.

No kidding. Enter the bye week 5-3 and adding Randy Moss, now two weeks later we're .500, Moss has one catch and we don't have a QB of the present or the future (though the latter may be Rusty Smith).

this blown call really killed us, going from a 3rd and 11 to a 1st and 5 enabling them to then go up two scores

this happens all too often, pretty discouraging

You mean the call that should have been a face mask, not a horse-collar? Sure, it was the wrong penalty call, but the end result was the same.

neither, he had a momentary ineffectual grip but nothing warranting a penalty, he let go before pulling

No, grabbing the facemask now matter how light is a 5 yard penalty and automatic first down. Its 15 if you twist them. So either way it would have been a first down.

No...there is no light penalty anymore. It's 15 or nothing. The 5 yard one has been gone for 2 years.

Yeah, if there's no pulling or twisting, it's not a facemask penalty anymore. If you just brush against it or bump it, it's not called anymore.

and sneaky was kind enough to link us to a picture of suh with his fingers in the facemask, so we know that, while the wrong penalty was called, a 15 yard penalty was warranted.

The division is a much safer route to go than the wild card if you want to make the playoffs.

As far as the Wild Card goes, there are realistically 4 teams fighting for 2 spots:

Bears/Packers loser

Saints

Bucs

Giants

Technically the Redskins (5-5) have an outside shot as well.

But based on having 4 different 7-3 teams fighting for a spot, I'm starting to wonder if 10-6 is not going to be good enough to make the playoffs. Will the Giants go worse than 4-2 and the Bucs finish 2-4? In that case 10-6 will take a WC spot. If the Giants go 4-2 or better, and/or the Bucs do better than 2-4, we're looking at a 10-6 team not making the playoffs most likely.

I wouldn't go handing the divisions to the Falcons and Eagles just yet, either. In reality, there are 7-8 teams fighting for 5 spots, between Atlanta, Philly, Chicago, Green Bay, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, New York and maybe Washington. At this time, I think the odd teams out are going to be Washington, Tampa Bay and Chicago, but there's still plenty of time left for those teams to improve, or the other teams to get worse.

Yeah what I really meant was there are 4 teams fighting for 2 spots:

-1 of GB/CHI

-2 of NO/ATL/TB

-1 of PHI/NYG/WAS

I just chose the teams that are currently not in a sole division lead.

At this point, I am a homer so I'd say the 3 teams out will be TB, NYG and WAS :)

Chilly just got axed. It had to be done but I liked him more than most Vikings fans. More for his skills on the personnel side and overall philosophies than as an actual gameday coach.

Because of the lockout stuff, Frazier is probably the favorite for the full-time job if they do a decent job the rest of the way. That's probably not a bad thing.

Nice....it definitely had to be done your right.

That will be the move that wins the division for the Packers most likely. If the Vikings get a similar bump in effort as the Cowboys did, I can't see the Bears winning in our house of horrors, on a Monday night no less (when everyone plays their ass off...see Bears/Vikings last December).

Yep...report is that Frazier is the new coach. Wilf should've done this a few weeks ago rather than letting Childress dump Moss.

Unfortunately this gives the Vikings time to re-tool a bit and be playing much better football just in time for the Bears to roll into town on the 20th :(

Childress isn't why the Vikings struggled. They might get a bounce with the coaching change, but that will fade over the next three weeks' worth of games before Chicago arrives. Leslie isn't going to bring Moss back, and he isn't going to make Favre change his stripes. I'm not conceding that game until we see how the next three week's shake out.

As far as you guys talking about a bounce back, the starting RG is out for the year so the right side will go from below average-bad to really bad. Loadholt has regressed all year. The safeties and non-Winfield CB's are still terrible.

Will be interesting to see how the Favre situation is handled. Leslie might not think as much of Tarvaris and Chilly did.

I'm not conceding any game, but understood.
