Sloan is out? Can't believe I haven't heard this yet, but I guess I haven't been on twitter all day, so there you go.

That's a pretty quick fall from grace.

Yeah, seems like he just got hired yesterday

I was speaking on a geologic timescale

Sloan just signed a one year extension on MONDAY. To resign 3 days later is almost proof that something crazy happened between then. My guess is it did have something to do with Williams. And for Utah to listen to him over their longtime coach is probably stupid, since I doubt he sticks around once his contract is up.

The SLC Tribune reporters say that he signed the contract, but that he wasn't expected to decide for sure whether or not to return until the offseason. It makes makes me think there's some kind of "out clause" in that contract.

From what I've been able to piece together from reporters via twitter (mostly ESPN's Marc Stein and Jazz reporter Brian Smith):

- Williams and Sloan have been in shouting matches at least 3 times this season, mostly with Williams frustrated that Sloan would never adapt his offensive system to the personnel the Jazz had, or ever try to push the tempo.

- During last night's game in the second quarter, coming out of a timeout, Williams ran a completely different play than Sloan called. This obviously pissed off Sloan.

- At halftime, Sloan blew up at Williams and the GM told him to knock it off. Right there, Sloan said he was done with the team.

- After the game, Sloan and the GM discussed things for 30 minutes before Sloan did the postgame press conference. At the conference, Sloan was notably shaken and mentioned there'd be an announcement the next day.

SSR is just conflating us clowning the Knicks for not having much to offer Lebron in free agency in terms of talent already on the team with us saying they don't have the pieces to trade for Melo. I don't remember anyone saying that at all.

Soul just did like one page ago

I definitely think the Nuggets are going to lose on that deal.

Doesn't have anything to do with the Bulls though. I didn't even realize we were making offers. Doesn't have anything to do with LeBron either.

Some perspective on Sloan: Sloan started coaching the Jazz on December 9, 1988. Four of this year's NBA All-Stars were under 3 months old at that time (Rose, Love, Durant, Westbrook), and one wasn't born yet (Griffin).

He's been around forever. Had a pretty nice run in the NBA on both sides of the equation.

There's no shame in simply deciding he doesn't need it anymore, IMO.

The Jazz have had one losing season since Sloan took over in 1988, and they finished in the top 10 in offensive efficiency every year but that one.

Sure. So what, he's not going to get one. Maybe he should just shoot himself then?

I don't get your point.

his legacy will not be that of a great coach, and people will judge him for it, or at worst forget about him completely.

I have a question for people that own a Bulls jersey. How do they fit? I wear an XL or XXL t-shirt, and both fit comfortably. How do the jersey sizes compare to t-shirt sizes? It is an Adidas replica jersey, if that helps.

No discussion of the Asik for Courtney Lee rumor?

Meh. I don't like it. Lee isn't a difference maker and Asik is a good security blanket. We have a geriatric and an oft-injured spaz at Center. Plus I like Omer.

Its a lot easier to swallow if both Boozer and Noah were'nt constant injury risks

I'm afraid the 2 guard is something we can't adequately attend to until next off-season, trading any big men leaves us far too thin right now.

I think Sloan has got him. He lost to Jordan. Schotty lost to like denver teams that got smashed in the super bowl.

He had some amazing San Diego teams that lost on some fluky stuff in the playoffs

(I remember a game where they picked off a Brady pass on 4th down and subsequently fumbled it to give the Pats a 1st down to allow them to win, holy crap thats some bad luck)

I could be forgetting some guys but I think Sloan is only clearly behind Jackson, Auerbach, Riley, amd Popps as far as NBA coaches go. I'd put him ahead of a LOT of guys that have won titles and pretty much on par with Larry Brown, Chuck Daly, etc.

I have an L that fits me very well and I usually wear XL shirts.
