Hollinger has the Heat ranked first in his power rankings. Stupid.

Do we really need to go over this again?

I was not aware we went over this before.

Well, two quick things then:

1: His ratings are purely based on the numbers that have occurred so far this season, and based purely on that, Miami has been the best (second best scoring margin over a tougher schedule than the Lakers). You may notice Sagarin and SCHOENE's ratings that take scoring margin into effect that Miami is also at the top of the list.

2. They are just barely at the top of the list, with 5 teams overall in a virtual "dead heat" at the top along with the Celtics, Spurs, Hornets and Lakers.

that Griffin dunk looked like he was being pulled up with ropes. It's like he got to the top of his jump, and then got yanked up another foot of the ground. it defied physics

Boers and Bernstein ripped Vinny early in the season for not designing one single play in the game Dan watched for Griffin. It will be interesting to see if Griffin can overcome Vinny's coaching to become the best player he can be with the talent he has.

1. Injuries.

2. Vinny is their coach.

Even with Boom Dizzle and Kaman hurt, Gordon and Griffin should be able to muster up more than 1 win thus far.

You forgot point number 2!

No, I'm saying point number 1 is irrelevant. VDN is horrible.

I have nothing against Vinny as a person and wish him well with the Clippers. But instead of crediting VDN for leading the Bulls to the playoffs with mediocre teams the last two years, I start to wonder if we could have been much better with real offensive and defensive sets instead of the garbage vinny had us run.

I think you need look no further than the Bulls start without Boozer to see how good they could be (Hollinger's projecting 50 wins). If any coach is worth 9 losses, VDN is that coach.

So, a week later, updated Sagarin predictor ratings:

1. Miami Heat (yes, still)

2. New Orleans Hornets

3. San Antonio Spurs

4. Los Angeles Lakers

5. Boston Celtics

6. Orlando Magic

7. Dallas Mavericks

8. Chicago Bulls

9. Denver Nuggets

10. Portland Trail Blazers

11. Utah Jazz

12. Indiana Pacers

13. Milwaukee Bucks

14. Atlanta Hawks

15. Oklahoma City Thunder

16. Phoenix Suns

17. Charlotte Bobcats

18. Houston Rockets

19. Toronto Raptors

20. Memphis Grizzlies

21. Philadelphia 76ers

22. New York Knicks

23. New Jersey Nets

24. Golden State Warriors

25. Cleveland Cavaliers

26. Detroit Pistons

27. Washington Wizards

28. Sacramento Kings

29. Minnesota Timberwolves

30. Los Angeles Clippers

West and East even more balanced this week, splitting the top 6, 8, and 14 spots. I would have to think Miami would not continue to be 0-5 in games decided by 5 or less and 8-0 in all other games.

I am surprised Atlanta is at #14. They are much better team than some of the teams above them.
