I've been buying the stats that say that Miami is the best team in bball despite the record. But why do they keep losing? Sure they blow out teams....some of them. But against others, they lose. I keep telling myself that they will eventually gel and turn those close losses into close or blowout wins, but they are struggling against teams they shouldnt struggle against. Now Indiana is definitely a decent team this year but c'mon.

PS I realize its not over but just to be in this position is surprising.

Last I checked the Pacers bench had outscored the Miami bench 34-4 tonight. That is pretty huge lol.

They will certainly get better. But right now, they are not a great team, only a decent one. And don't get me started on the stats.

Losing to the Pacers at home. Hilarious. I guess Haslem was more important that we thought.

Those stats are not accurate.

If you think Miami is the best team in basketball, you're high. Even the guys that made those models would never, ever pick Miami over LA in a 7 game series if their lives depended on it.

I'll say this much, when you have to play a 37 year old Juwan Howard some significant minutes you have bench issues.

Getting Miller & Haslem back healthy will certainly help them.

It also helps that DWade is 1-13 from the field. \:D/

85-72 Pacers with about 3 minutes left.

I don't even think Wade was supposed to play today because of his injury. He gutted it out and killed the team because of it.

The thing about this game tonight is the Pacers have basically dominated Miami since the 1st quarter. Miami never got closer than 7 points in the 2nd half at any point.

Now the pacers will lose at home to the cavs.

I would not be surprised but I'm going to relish this win for the time being.

Final tally for bench scoring in the game - Pacers 40, Heat 4.

I'm getting slightly more excited at the prospect of the Bulls having a shot at making the finals. Orlando and Boston still look pretty darn good though.

Reading idle chatter on Heat boards that maybe the team is coasting so Riley can push out Spoelstra.

Whatever's going on, the effort level was absolutely horrible.

I'm waiting for Riley to come in.

I'm thinking they figured they could coast to 55-60 wins then flip the switch come playoffs.

There are 240 man-minutes in a regulation NBA game and a combination of Ilgauskas, Carlos Arroyo, Juwan Howard, Jamaal Magloire, Eddie House, and James Jones played over half of them (122). Joel Anthony went from starting to getting DNP-CD's in less than a week.

The down side of having a team built with only 4 players above replacement level (although 3 were far above replacement level) is that if one or two of those go down, it's a huge hit to team performance.

The up side of having a team built with 8 replacement level players is that the D-league is full of them, so you could potentially mix and match at will.

I heard Haslem was having some kind of surgery and is out "indefinitely." Miami's in trouble for awhile.

Til February they are saying. I think I read that they are signing dampier though.
