Hooray for another nooner! I can't recall an uglier dominating win. Carolina is a bad football team. Apparently the Bears were getting 3 points by kickoff, and they opened as 3 point favorites. Well now they are 6.5 point favorites against the incredibly mediocre Seahawks. Tradition is holding so far for Seattle, winning at home and losing on the road. The Bears really need to win this game as there is no excuse to lose. Hasselback is the 29th rated QB in the league. Chris Williams might be back, Jay Cutler might be back. If they are, I'd really like to see a 20 point win here and have the Bears solidify their division lead and standing among the NFC contenders.

If Cutler is back and even plays at 75% of his ability, this should be a 14-point win.

says that if we can finish the year 6-5, to end with a 10-6 record, we have a 97% chance at making the playoffs. If we finish 56, to end with a 9-7 record, we are looking at a 65% chance.

So how likely are 6 more wins? Well, let's assume the following 3 games are locks. If they aren't we're in a world of trouble anyways:

1. Seattle

2. Buffalo

3. Detroit

So that leaves us with needing to go 3-5 vs. these teams:

Washington

Green Bay

Minnesota

Minnesota

New York Jets

New England

Miami

Philadelphia

I can definitely see us being good enough to win 3 of those games. I count 3 of them as being moderately difficult (Washington, Miami, Philadelphia), and the other 5 being challenging. Win 2 of the 3 moderately difficult and just one of the 5 challenging ones, and we're good.

I wouldn't think of Seattle or Detroit as locks.

Seattle at home is a lock if this team is any good and has a chance of competing in the NFC playoffs. Although no, it's not a lock in terms of just this game. Yes that sounds dumb but it makes sense in my mind.

Again, like I said....If they aren't locks for us, we're in a world of trouble. No doubt Detroit and Seattle are decent teams, but we *should* beat them if we want to make the playoffs. They are the 3 easiest games remaining on our schedule. Detroit we dominated in a game already everywhere but the scoreboard, an Seattle on the road has been awful, losing their 2 road games by a combined score of 51-17 (and they played Denver and St. Louis, not exactly the 98 Broncos and 99 Rams). We should beat all 3 of those teams. Maybe lock was a bad word. I meant it as "if we are a playoff caliber team, these games should be locks for us."

I think that Miami game is potentially the hardest on the schedule. Short week, on the road, good team, after facing another good team. Of course I thought the same thing about the Thursday nighter in SF last year and the Bears were 1 of 5 INTs not being caught from winning that game.

I hate Thursday night games more than Monday Night. Everybody should get to have their bye the week before a Thursday game.

Agreed. The only "problem" is bye weeks are nearly over when Thursday games start. That obviously can be changed, but I'm sure Thursday games are more popular later in the season ($$$), so I don't see that happening.

I know it's a short week, but it's a short week for Miami too.

But yeah, I'm not looking forward to that game.

Yeah, that's tricky. They run thursday games through week 16, which would require a week 15 bye, but those are done in week 10. I don't see a problem bumping them back to week 12 or so.

Yeah, but it's one where they don't have to travel. They are home the week before and home Thursday. That's got to be a lot easier.

Also, if they don't want to change the bye weeks, a good idea would be to make division games or short travel games on Thursday nights. The Bears shouldn't go any further than Cleveland or Minnesota, screw this Miami and San Fran stuff.

Edit: for traditional Thanksgiving games (Dallas and Detroit), you can make an exception for 1 of the games. Or else it would be Dallas vs. Houston or NO every year.

Maybe cross country trips matter, but I think for the most part if you're getting on a plane to play another game, whether it's 1:00, 2:00 or 4:00 there isn't much of a difference. They aren't travelling by rail or on some cheapo airline. I do think it's an advantage for a team to be playing back to back home games in that situation. But I'm not sure if history supports that claim.

True. Historically it is tough for a team to travel cross country and win, even with a full week. But it doesn't seem very efficient for a team to play a 1:00 game on Sunday, have a day off, practice Tuesday, travel Wednesday for walk-thru, then play Thursday night. Seems like it could be a lot better.

While this Bears team is difficult to watch this year, I'm thrilled that my grueling weekend schedule for September/October has allowed me to see every snap. I usually miss a few games due to my schedule. One weekend left. Ironically, I'm in Seattle this Sunday in a hotel. Skip out on meetings long enough to catch the game in my room or in the hotel bar. Being in Seattle probably means it will be on every tv in the Seattle area. :good:

I had no idea Julius Peppers was this amazing. I really liked the clip they did with the teams of great defensive linemen and then Peppers all by himself as a Bear this year. He's really been that awesome.

I've heard that it's harder for a west coast team to head east for a game than vice versa. Part of the explaination is that for a West Coast team to play a noon game in the east, that's 9AM Pacific time. Throws them out of rhythm.

If that is a legit issue though, it makes the Cubs/Day games issue seem more legit.

Yeah, man. The stuff about Peppers taking plays off was greatly exaggerated. Even Superman didn't stop every crime.
