I've heard that it's harder for a west coast team to head east for a game than vice versa. Part of the explaination is that for a West Coast team to play a noon game in the east, that's 9AM Pacific time. Throws them out of rhythm.

If that is a legit issue though, it makes the Cubs/Day games issue seem more legit.

It's very significant losing hours flying east.

"I don't care if it's 3rd and 20...we should run it."

"You see what happens if we drop back to pass? It's a sack or a pick."

I think that was him talking about the Panthers offense.

Oh yeah, I think you're right. But the same could've been said about our offense. And considering they were on the sidelines that's how I interpreted it.

But I'm sure the Bears wouldn't put up footage of our defensive lineman talking [expletive] about the offense on the team website.

From an ESPN.com chat today regarding Briggs:

Andres (Miami)

Is Briggs' injury serious?

Jeff Dickerson (12:45 PM)

Briggs said he was going to be okay after the game, but we need to wait and see how his ankle responds this week to treatment. Lance was in a lot of pain when the injury occurred yesterday, and was wearing a walking boot in the locker room. The key for Briggs is to be able to practice one day this week. Even if it's only Friday. That's all he needs.

So how likely are 6 more wins? Well, let's assume the following 3 games are locks. If they aren't we're in a world of trouble anyways:

1. Seattle

2. Buffalo

3. Detroit

So that leaves us with needing to go 3-5 vs. these teams:

Washington

Green Bay

Minnesota

Minnesota

New York Jets

New England

Miami

Philadelphia

The game in Detroit scares the crap out of me and is far from any sort of lock. This is not the same Lions team we're accustomed to seeing, they're a couple breaks away from being 4-1. Our schedule does get tougher but at least we play the two best AFC East teams (Jets, Pats) at home. We should be able to get one of those two.

Detroit is good, but they are in my opinion still one of the 3 worst teams left on our schedule. Due to the fact that we overwhelmed them statistically in our one game, and the fact that we play so well at Ford Field, I think it's a game we should win.

That said, if I was playing Devil's advocate, I could easly explain the Bears statistical dominance because they had to throw Shaun Hill in there without much time to mesh. When Stafford was in the game it was much more even. When Hill got in there, they really dumbed down the offense and went completely stagnant until the Bears finally scored and they had to air it out. Since that game Hill has played pretty well. Stafford should be back by the time we face them again.

Before sneakypower sees this since he already hates me for my lack of respect for Motown, trust me I'm not ignoring the Lions performance. I just don't think they will be a challenge if we are playing as well as we should. They are definitely much improved over last year and are finally putting some great pieces together. That defense especially is improved over the previous 2 years, which were pretty much the worst defenses I've ever seen.

There's a decent chance Detroit is better than Minnesota this year (coming into this week, Detroit had a higher DVOA than Minnesota). I'd argue that the home game vs. Minny is at least as winnable as the game at Detroit.

Speaking of Detroit, Calvin Johnson spent the day getting tests for his shoulder, something the Lions coach is "very concerned" about.

And has anyone seen GBs upcoming schedule? This is probably their hard part of the season:

Week 6: Miami Dolphins

Week 7: Minnesota Vikings

Week 8: at New York Jets

Week 9: Dallas Cowboys

Week 10: Bye

Week 11: at Minnesota Vikings

Week 12: at Atlanta Falcons

If they come out of that better than 3-3 with the injury issues they are having that will be a success.

With the Bears looking at an opportunity to start 6-2 or 7-1 the pieces are in place to build a divisional lead. That said things change quickly in the NFL and nothing is guaranteed.

Just as long it doesn't come down to Week 17 at Lambeau. I'm pretty sure there's no way we win that game if it's for the division.

That's why yesterday's game was so important for us. I'd be content with going 3-3 in that stretch. Thrilled with anything better than that.

I do think Miami has to be one of the wins so Sunday is almost necessary in my mind.

I'm seeing both a 7 point spread and OFF for this game, and hope the picks league I'm in that makes all OFF games a pick-em gives me that option. I hate giving that many points with the Bears.

OFF because of Cutler's status I'm assuming. I'd probably take the Bears with the points this week if Cutler is playing.

Yeah, has to be about his status. I wouldn't give up any points if it's another QB.

Vikings/Lions aside, you really think that's worth something at this point?

And coming into this week the Chiefs had the 2nd highest DVOA in the league. The Bears at 27 would be heavy underdogs against he Seahawks and the only team they rank ahead of on their remaining schedule is the Bills. Come on.

I'm not a gambler by any means, but I think if you think the Bears are going to win, you have to take the points with whichever QB if the spread is 3 or under.

Clearly. But if Todd Collins is playing I have no faith in what the team is going to do. If they happen to give up some points there's serious doubts about being able to come back.

I have to imagine Hanie would get the start, whom I would trust to beat a Seattle team by 7 points on the road with the team the Bears have. If its Cutler, the 7 points definitely wouldn't bother me. How much has Seattle been outscored on the road this year? Seattle has lost by 17 points to both Denver and the Rams. I'm not putting Collins in the equation, hes the #3 QB now easy.

But if Todd Collins is playing

Surely that would only be a possibility at this point if Hanie got hurt and Cutler wasn't cleared to play this Sunday. If Cutler is back, it's time to part ways with Collins and bring back Lefevour if he's still available. He showed me a decent enough arm, mobility in the pocket and an ability to hit an open receiver in preseason. I think he'd be fine as a 3rd QB, and hope they never get to the point of needing a 3rd.

That or find someone else on the waiver wire that is mobile. Collins is just a trainwreck with this offense.

I haven't heard any clear cut indication with what they are planning on doing with Collins/Hanie, and with this coaching staff I'm not going to assume anything.
