Williams could probably be an adequate RT, but I'm quickly losing faith that he'll be a good-very good LT.

At this point, if Williams can't be a good-very good LT, he'll probably be a journeyman, backup OL. There's no going back to RT if he can't turn it around in the next 4 months, and the Bears would be wise to move on if he can't.

Sexy time. Looks like Forte is ready to step-in whenever Urlacher bows out as the face of the franchise (he knocked up somebody that isn't his fiance, who, coincidentally enough, isn't his fiance anymore either).

Of the two exceptions mentioned, 3 of the 4 losses were to really good football teams, 2 of them went 13-3 and the other was a 12-4 super bowl participant. I think it has more to do with who you lose to. Yes, that Cowboys example lost to what turned out to be a crappy Redskins team that was 2 years removed from being great. On the other hand, if Dallas goes 0-2 this year it will be against a couple squads that have peaked at mediocrity the past 3 seasons and aren't anything special. Raw's rule holds up in that context. Dallas itself has been an inconsistent performer of late, and they have tougher tests going forward. They can't go 0-2 with the schedule they have left.

in addition, the Cowboys were missing one of the greatest running backs of all time...

I got a chuckle of this quote from Forte's now ex-fiance's father.

And these athletes have to be held accountable for their actions whether it is a Tiger Woods or a Matt Forte.''

FO quick reads on Bears offensive players:

Jay Cutler: Although it's obviously not incorporated into these statistics, I'm of the volition that Cutler wasn't at fault on the stripsack at the end of the third quarter. Right tackle Frank Omiyale just stopped sustaining his block. Can't do that. While most of Cutler's production came on those two touchdown passes to Matt Forte, Devin Aromashodu also dropped an easy touchdown in the end zone that would given Cutler a 38-yard touchdown. And yes, his interception -- an attempt to hit Johnny Knox on a dig -- was a bad decision.

Matt Forte (rushing): So, how bad was Forte's day? Using the data and likely conversion rates from that essay, Forte had the third-worst game near the goal line of any back since 2000.

Not a groupie. It was his ex-gf.

Still unbelievably stupid though, of course.

Omiyale did give up on that block, but Cutler has to know they aren't blocking for that long. He held it too long, and then should have felt pressure from behind and just tucked it down. Then again, it wasn't that far from being incomplete with the arm moving forward.

I was just wondering where the dump offs were. Every time Cutler held the ball for too long (which was often) it didn't even look like there were targets in the flats or anything. Guess that's Martz for you.

I was all over Cutler for not throwing the ball on several plays. But then I replayed them and I believe every single one of them were 2 or 3 WR patterns when everyone else was left in to block. Sadly, a couple times 4 man pressure got past the 8 blockers.

When you only have Hester and Knox in pattern against 6-7 DBs, they aren't going to get open. They just aren't good or big enough for that.

i just don't know how you can reason that cutler was anywhere close to bad.

He wasn't. He was the only good thing (other than Forte's pass catching) in the offense last week. VAR has him as the 4th most effective QB last week (Peyton, Brady...Orton?).

aromashadu and taylor played well, too.

the offense was very good except for the fumbles and the goal-line situations. this team doesn't play well in the red zone and they need to figure out how to fix it.

He looked really good at times, but yes -- then he'd drop one.

But he was open, and Cutler was finding him. That makes me feel pretty good about the prospects for the Cutler/Shodu connection moving forward. I know Jay wants to get the ball to him because he's a big target and he looks pretty good out there most of the time.

And a two-point conversion pass.

yeah, you guys are right, he was terrible.

Come on now...you said he played well, and we just pointed out that he had some trouble spots.

Where's the "hyperbole off" switch on you?

Going by DYAR, Knox was better than Aromashodu last week. Knox was the 18th best receiver, Aromashodu was the 18th worst.

Granted, neither was Greg Olsen bad.
