Hunter Hillenmeyer is apparently being placed on IR.

Well that's a surprise. He was quoted this morning as saying he was feeling better from his undisclosed illness. The Bears didn't want him to say what was wrong.

Also, Nick Roach pulled his hamstring against Detroit. No update on his status yet.

Dammit. Let's hope the other 4 main LBs can stay mostly healthy. I really don't want to go looking around the LB scrap heaps like last year.

Losing Hilly sucks with Urlacher and Tinoisamoa's health history. Not too worried though. I'm assuming they'll re-sign Malast because he knows the system. If Roach is out this week and Urlacher or Pisa go down at some point, I'd imagine the Bears just play out the game in nickel, which they'll likely do a lot of anyway vs. Dallas' typical 3-wide offense. Would be nice if Roach got healthy really fast though. If Urlacher goes down long term, he's the only guy that can play the middle. I also like what I have seen from Iwuh at LB if the Bears have to use him at SLB for a short period of time.

I'm glad we traded for Chris Harris but all of a sudden it would be really nice to have Jamar Williams.

Why? We still wouldn't have taken more LBs on the 53 man if we had Williams.

Because he's better than Roach, Iwuh, and Hillenmeyer. I suppose that doesn't really relate to the injuries, but still. Our starting three LBs aren't the most durable guys and it would be nice to have some good depth.

He's not better than Roach. He's not better than Hillenmeyer. He's not as good on special teams as Iwuh, which is what you need to be as a 6th LB.

I don't have a good feeling about this game. One of the favorites for the SuperBowl, Dallas is 0-1. They have the media against them after another poor offensive performance following a horrid preseason showing. Home opener for the Cowboys.

SB contenders don't start 0-2. And if Dallas starts 0-2, heads will roll. And we know in the NFL, the more desperate team usually finds a way to win (if the teams are even close to evenly matched).

I really don't have much hope for the Bears winning this game. The Cowboys were able to move the ball well, but couldn't score. They are pretty solid defensively, and I think matchup well against the Bears offensive line. Miles Austin will be a tough matchup vs. the Bears DBs. I'd like to see the Bears get Bowman on Austin as much as possible and hopefully Tillman can take out Dez Bryant, allowing the LBs and safeties to focus on Witten and helping on Austin.

Where I think the Bears can possibly get some cheap points are special teams. I think Dallas' kick coverage is weak. And on a fast track indoors, I think Manning, Knox, and/or Hester can do some damage and get the Bears good field position. Turnovers obviously will also be huge. Can't give a struggling offense easy points. Can't lose points to a good team by turning it over in scoring range.

1) I think Dallas is overrated. I know others have the same sentiment. Don't get me wrong, they are a good football team, but not a great one.

2) Lovie Smith is operating on a level of despiration all year long. Not saying that the despiration will match the level of Dallas' for this one particular game, but the despiration is there on the Bears part.

3) I do agree however that a lot of the matchups don't look good for the Bears in this game. Ware is going to destroy the Bears o-line most likely. Austin and Bryant are going to be extremely tough to contain with the secondary. As usual, the key to shutting them down offensively is probably going to be how well we can pressure the QB and force him into mistakaes. I am not worried about shutting down the running game all that much unless the Bears are forced to only keep 5-6 in the box because they are tearing up the secondary.

Bottom line is I think it's a game we CAN win, but I don't think its game that's going to be particularly likely to win.

I think it's pretty clear this isn't true. Lovie has a very low threshold for accomplishment needed to keep his job.

Is Ware going to be 100%? Didn't they cart him off the field last week with a neck injury of some sort?

Forte was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

2.9 YPC gives you NFC OPOY these days? Although, the NFL might just consider 2.9 YPC with our offensive line to be a huge accomplishment.

(I know about his great game receiving, I'm just kidding)

Lots of people taking the Cowboys as a suicide pick this week. But at the same time the line has gone from 8.5 to 8.

I can understand where they are coming from I guess, but I'd think there are better games to use the Cowboys in your suicide pool. I mean they do play the Lions this year. There must not be a ton of obvious mismatches this weekend. That or the public's perception of the Bears is a lot worse than I thought.

Stinger. It looks like a neck thing at first but usually doesn't have much lingering effects.

That's a problem for us, I think :)

Not one of those matchups I feel good about heading in.
