Dew, what's going on with Kenny Britt?

So far he's been a wide receiver who can't catch the football. He had an ok season last year, but had some drop issues. This year, he showed up so out of shape to OTAs that he had to sit out the first couple of days before taking part. Reports are he's been pretty up and down throughout training camp, though the week before the Cardinal game he apparently was really good.

We really need a couple of him, Nate Washington and Jared Cook to step up this year to take pressure off CJ. Britt's no doubt very talented, but has really struggled being consistent and catching the ball.

Until Squanto's shoulder blows up and St. Louis is left on the hook for a zillion dollars.

that's racist!

but seriously, we have the ugliest athletes. Blake Griffin and bradford are both afflicted by the close-eyes syndrome, and kevin durant has acne like jessica simpson on a chocolate binge.

ill take all 3 though. at least bradford gets to keep his heisman SICK BURN

Not sure how many watched but did anyone notice how upset Manning and the Colts were getting over the new rule? Manning got flagged twice for an illegal snap.

Yes, I did.

I suggest they quit whining and play the damn game.

I understand why they're upset but I don't completely agree with them. The NFL intentionally hurt the play on the field in order to keep the umpires safe. Even though now more penalties will be missed (except for offensive holding which will now be called a lot more) and the no huddle offense won't work nearly as well, I can respect that decision.

I do wish the NFL had tried putting equipment on these umpires first though. There's no reason to hurt the game until you have tried another easy option first. And it's hard not to notice that the NFL isn't completely caring about their safety because they're in their old spot during the last two minutes of the half.

Equipment does not keep players safe, it won't keep umpires safe. The only protection is the helmet, everything else just makes it easier to make bigger hits.

What I found distasteful was the display of discontent directed at the game officials, especially by Manning.

OK, you don't like the new system. Time & Place: there are channels for the organization and players to direct their discontent and dissatisfaction appropriately. It's not like acting like a whiny baby on the field is going to cause the refs to switch back to the old system to make you happy, there on the spot.

I was very surprised to see this from Manning, of all people. It was a turn off. I'm glad it was only a preseason game, and that he decides to act like an adult in time for the regular season. Even more distasteful were Jaws & Gruden feeding into it, in support of Manning, right there on the spot. I have no problem speculating on this: if it was, say, Rex Grossman doing the whining, the call would have been more along the lines of "these are the new rules, and you have to figure out how to win within them." But it's Peyton Manning, so it becomes OK.

Manning acts like that all the time. He expects perfection both for himself and for everyone else. And when either one of those is off, everyone knows about it. It gets to the point that I'm not a fan of his behavior at times. But unless I missed something last night, there was nothing out of character for Manning. He gets upset at other players, coaches, the refs, and himself all the time on the field. He got caught by the mics screaming at another player in the middle of a play last year. I was very surprised by what Caldwell said last night but certainly not Manning.

I think it was partly the rule but partly the application of the rule by the game refs that the Colts were upset about. The refs were not running back to their positions on every play and that was really slowing the Colts up. Plus other refs are supposed to be able to spot the ball sometimes in order to speed up the game on any long completion and that didn't happen to the Colts liking last night.

As for the announcers, it didn't surprise me. Jaws is a former QB and most QB's are not going to like this rule one bit. Gruden had been quoted as complaining about the rule change several days before this game. I disagree that if Grossman had done that it would have changed their opinions but it was also clear that they decided to make it a focus of last night's broadcast because the Colts run no huddle so much. So other games it wouldn't have been nearly as big of a deal.

Jaws and Gruden are simply awful. I lost count of how many times I was just laughing at some of their boneheaded comments regarding the game, in general, and the Packers. Aaron Rodgers isn't an elite quarterback? I don't know how 'those people' still exist after another phenomenal year last year, but I guess they're still there. Oh and Gruden confusing Ryan Grant for Dorsey Levens was pretty good too. When Sam Shields picked off a pass to finally end the game, Gruden just goes, "That guy is going to be a Green Bay Packer, I guarantee it." Pretty bold statement still for a guy that's fighting for the 53rd and final roster spot.

That's the worst national crew by ten miles. I cringe everytime I watch MNF because of them. Tirico is fine when he's not paired up with those two imbeciles, but even he dumbs down to their level.

Pretty crappy game all the way around between the Titans and Panthers. Neither team scored until the third quarter and the offenses were pretty inept it sounded like.

It didn't sound like Vince did awful, but he wasn't as good as I was hoping. Jared Cook had a nice long touchdown, though, and that's a good sign.

We still haven't scored a TD on offense. I really hope this doesn't bode ill for the season.

On the bright side, Moore played a little better. Emphasis on 'little'.
