Just another strike against ESPN for this bs. So, as I understand it, a reporter overhears a couple of Vikings players taking about Favre sending them texts saying he's retiring, and that reporter reports it. ESPN picks up on it, dedicates 75% of its TV coverage to it, as well as plenty of articles on ESPN.com. Now it seems like the rumor wasn't legit. If the report is proven to be untrue, ESPN is a pathetic organization.

Very excited to see the defense this year. Between Dunta Robinson, Peria Jerry, and Sean Weatherspoon, the defense should be much improved. As long as Abraham can stay healthy and not decline too much, we should be out of the bottom part of the NFL in team defense.

Falcons are an interesting team. Unfortunately, I don't have very much confidence that Abraham can stay healthy and still be a worthwhile pass rusher. I think the Falcons had some areas to shore up in order to take a step in becoming an elite team. I thought they did well w/ Dunta and drafting Franks, and I love Weatherspoon to solidify the LB group. But I thought they needed help rushing the passer (26th in sacks last year) and another weapon for the #3 WR spot. Gotta really hope Anderson and/or Sidbury really step up, IMO, to be a playoff team.

I agree on Abraham, unfortunately. Anderson is going to play a little more DT this year with hopefully one of Davis/Biermann/Sidbury stepping up on the other side Franks and Weatherspoon have been great at training camp supposedly, but Jerry hasn't been able to fully go yet. As for the #3 WR issue, Harry Douglas coming back from the injury that kept him out all of last season should help a bunch.

They're the Fox News of sports.

Brad Childress looks like a pedophile.

How old was Favre's daughter when she gave birth?

Dammit, 20. Though his other daughter is just 11...

this is a pretty keen post if you catch my drift

[expletive] you too. Dont you have a jaw that needs mashed in again?

It is funny how everyone else started totally backtracking at like 6:00 last night but ESPN is sticking to their guns and pretending everything is the same as yesterday morning. No player or coach seems to know who he sent those texts to. People who talked to him yesterday have no idea where it's coming from other than he says his ankle isn't 100% yet. Mooch is the only media type who has talked to him and he says that he hasn't decided anything and didn't tell anyone he was retiring. Yet ESPN has to completely ignore that because he works for NFL Network.

He'll be back in 2-3 weeks.

Ok, everyone involved with this conversation better drop it. Immediately. There's not going to be warnings if this one is continued past this point.

Reports are the Vikings upped Brett's contract to $20 million this season to lure him. Was this Brett's intention?

Pretty pathetic, if true.

Not really. With him every game is a guaranteed sell-out. They would go from a top 3 quarterback last year to hoping for a middle of the pack QB at best this year. With him they have a legit shot at the Super Bowl, without him they have a legit shot at winning a playoff game. Their chances of getting a new stadium are greatly enhanced by a Super Bowl appearance or win.

I would say all of that is worth an extra $3M guaranteed and if he does everything to reach the extra $4M in incentives, it will all have been worth it to the owners.

So he comes back for a few million more? Why does money matter so much to him if all he cares about is playing the game?

I'd have more respect for him if he just came out and said that he hated training camp. I really don't understand why he can't admit it. Is it really that big of a deal?

He's not holding out. The Vikings are just desperate and trying to sweeten the pot which they should.

this link might not work. But deadspin started running a story last night about a female "we would know" having icky interactions with Favre. A commentator guessed Jenn Sterger, and it turns out this morning that he was right.

Here's another reason Brett Favre should stay retired this time: Turns out The Daily Line's Jenn Sterger has kept a ridiculously disturbing (but HILARIOUS) secret about her interactions with The Gunslinger while they were both part of the Jets organization.

He may have sent pictures of his junk to her.

In fact, Sterger claims that, in one of the photos Favre allegedly sent her, he's masturbating — while wearing a pair of Crocs. In another photo, Favre is holding his penis while wearing the wristwatch he wore during his first teary-eyed retirement press conference. You know, this one:

That ho better not play any part in him not coming back. Ugh, Jenn Sterger is the [expletive] worst.

She's the ho? How exactly? A married man sends her pictures of his dong and she's the bad guy?

i cant believe how much he trashed his reputation these last few years

As much as I'm rooting against this happening, after a few years, when he goes into Canton and memories get a little fuzzy, all will be forgiven. He'll go back to being loved in GB too.

The Vikings are still a really good team even if Favre doesn't play. Jackson is a lot better than people are giving him credit for. His 2007 season (first year as a starter) was pretty crappy. But he made strides by 2008. He started the first 2 games of the year, and was lackluster, but came back in the last 4 games and put up QB ratings of 143.8, 135.5, 98.5, and 88.5. The last 3 were against playoff teams that year. He completed 64% of his passes, for 740 yards, 8 Tds and 1 INT in those 4 games, though he did have a crappy game vs. the Eagles in the playoffs.

Last year in the preseason, he also played really well. Same for when he came into games during the regular season. Favre isn't going to be as good as he was in 2009 either. But just because he isn't there doesn't mean that Rice is going to go back to pre-2009 Rice. Harvin is still going to develop. Berrian is still going to be solid. And T-Jack is going to make most of the plays that he needs to make. He's going into his 5th year in the system, I think he will be fine.
