Just looked at their boxscore and it seems innocent enough. Doubleswitch in the 6th with pitchers spot due to leadoff for Dodgers. And DeWitt had already K'd in both of his at bats.

Stark just said on Twitter not to expect a deal tonight, but talks are moving in a "positive" direction. Whatever that means......

Please Loney or Sands. Please Loney or Sands.....

If the Dodgers would be willing to part with one or the other, that would be our replacement for DLee.

It'd be a great return for Ted, no doubt.......But I'm hoping that we go after AGon or Fielder this offseason or the following one, if either make to FA......Plus, Dunn wouldn't be a bad fit either.

I guess I'm hoping for one of their arms, if we make a deal with them. Miller, Martin, or Withrow.

My guess for a trade with the dodgers though: James McDonald and Allen Webster. And I'm perfectly fine with that.

I've known about Sands but after hearing him as a hopeful end result for Lilly I looked at his numbers a bit closer... wow. Yes please. Power, patience, and decent speed? I would imagine the Dodgers are pretty high on him though,m but he's not a premier name so maybe they'll give him up.

james loney is a pretty bad hitting 1b.

Thomas Diamond only pitched 4 innings yesterday, which made me think about him possibly being promoted. I researched it a little and found this from Bruce Miles this evening:

Pitch count to keep him fresh to take Lilly's spot?

This was posted by someone in a minor league game thread, but for those who dont follow those, it looks like theres a decent chasnce that Thomas Diamond takes Lillys spot when hes traded.

Heard this: The Yankees are not pursuing Ted Lilly. If the Cubs wanted to put him on a platter and give him away, that would change.#trades [via Twitter]

That leaves only the Dodgers and the "mystery team" I believe.

I always figured him as sort of a Mark Grace hitter, but after looking at that OPS... yikes! Although that could be hindered by playing in Dodger Stadium, but I don't know how much better it would be in Wrigley.

Sands then, please.

over his short career, Loney is impressive away from Dodger Stadium -- .315 / .367 / .505 in 275 games.

I believe Colletti when he says his young core of Kershaw, Billingsley, Ethier, Kemp, Loney and R. Martin aren't available.

Not for 2 months of Ted Lilly anyway.

Sounds like #Cubs likely to send both Lilly & Theriot to #Dodgers. Doesn't sound like Manny's heading for either side of Chicago. #trades [via Twitter]

holy god manny would've been awesome to get just for the fun factor.

Imagine what Paul Sullivan woulda said.

Jayson Stark reporting Lilly and Theriot are likely Dodger-bound.

So does this mean that the Kelly Johnson deal isnt happening? If we get either DeWitt or Johnson, we almost have to dangle Fontenot and get anything we can, because theres no point having both.

Bye-Bye Theriot

:yahoo:

It would be pretty cool if we sent Marlon Byrd to the Giants. I know it isn't likely, but I think we could net a decent piece from their farm for him.

Rozner, imo. All he'd have to do is take his past articles, replace "Aramis" with "Manny" and "third base" with "left field", and he'd have a year's worth of material already written.
