Maybe I'm reading too much into Len, but I feel like he has a slightly different tone of voice when he's relaying a piece of information he thinks is really stupid. He used that tone of voice when talking about Colvin leading off.

If you are going to put Colvin leading off, you may as well put Soto leading off, and his 417 OBP. Or Baker, Soriano, Byrd. Colvin would be about the last guy Id put leading off and especially vs a lefty.

I guarantee that the reason Colvin is leading off is because Kazmir has a massive reverse split so far this year, and lefties are OPSing 1.000+ against him.

Nevermind that, as I stated a few posts ago, partial-year platoon splits are not at all predictive. Over the past three years, righties have hit Kazmir much better than lefties.

Is it just me, or do the Cubs only pay attention to the wrong stats?

Slightly higher pitch with a "this is interesting" tone?

That's the one.

Why on earth would you be bunting with your best hitter at the plate this early in the game?

(and in typical Cub fashion, we can't even get the runners over...)

I can't stand Lou anymore, but I refuse to believe he called for a bunt from his 3 hitter in the 5th inning.

But will he send Byrd on the 3-2 pitch to Lee?

Is the only way Cubs ever score on a Sac Fly or Solo HR. I swear we haven't had a bases clearing double or 2 run single in forever.

Loaded with one out....good teams put up a crooked number there. Cubs hitters step into the box thinking that the pitcher has them right where he wants them.

This still feels like an improvement. Getting any runs when they mean something in a game is better than what we have been watching for the better part of this season.

Silva ABSOLUTELY has to hold them here

Naturally he gives up a homer to Hunter. Kazmir getting out of the jam has killed any momentum the Cubs had.
