Piniella rips Steve Stone

Steve Stone criticized the lack of playing time for Tyler Colvin and here's Lou's response:

And Steve Stone, he's got enough problems doing what he does with the White Sox. What job has he had in baseball besides talking on television or radio? What has he done? Why isn't he a farm director and bring some kids around? Why isn't he a general manager? Why hasn't he ever put the uniform on and be a pitching coach? Why hasn't he been a field manager? There are 30 teams out there that could use a guy's expertise like that.

"We've got a lot of people here that haven't managed and won any games in the big leagues, but they know everything, you know?" Piniella said. "They really do. I think they should really try and put the uniform on and try this job and see how they like it when they get criticized unjustly, you know? That's all I got to say about that issue. But you get tired of it," Piniella said. "I'm trying to do the best job I possibly can, and the only people I need to listen to are the people in my organization, that's it. I get tired of being nitpicked, and I get tired of being criticized unjustly. Why don't they talk to me first before they do it, OK? And get my viewpoints and my feelings and then make a determination.

"You know? The same way I get called 'ridiculous,' they're ridiculous in the way they report things, too."

The reporter who started the rant then tried to get in a question about Peavy, before Piniella continued, finally naming Stone as a primary agitator.

"And another thing I'm going to say. I've won over 1,800 games as a manager, and I'm not a damn dummy," Piniella said. "There are only 13 others that have won more games than me, so I guess I think I know what the hell I'm doing."

Awww poor Lou not liking being questioned again. The big bad tough Chicago media better watch out, he's won 1800 games damnit. Don't question the genius that is Lou Piniella. I hate Stone but Lou needs to stfu about getting tired of being criticized. He's had it so damn easy in this town its ridiculous. At this point he should be getting beaten up by the Chicago media but they are all too chicken [expletive] to get on Big Bad Lous bad side. How pathetic is it he knows exactly where he sits on the career wins as a manager list. With that said Stone can stfu to and quit thinking he's the Cubs know all be all. Worry about your Sox.

Both of these guys can be right and wrong at the same time.

"What I said is that Lou has been given a team that really hasn't fit together particularly well. Then it's been up to Lou to make this fit because if you look at the lineup changes he's made, a lot of it has been by necessity because you don't have a natural No. 1 hitter. You probably don't have anatural No. 2 hitter. So Lou has had to put guys into those positions. I understand that."

You are right, the team Hendry gave him wasn't that good. But lamenting the lack of a natural number 1 or 2 hitter? Shut the hell up you moron.

So,nobody is allowed to question any of Lou's moves?

Lous the manager damnit and he has over 1800 wins in his career! Although noone in the actual Chicago media has been allowed to question Lous moves since last year when he snapped on a reporter.

So a commentator can't rip a coach until he has coached himself? That's the same stupid mentality that sports radio hosts who have played in professional sports use against callers who question them. The odd thing is that I bet Lou will really start to play Colvin more now.
