I have had the good fortune of attending two of the Cubs' all-time great games...#1 "the Sandberg game" and #2 the first game of the '84 Divisional playoffs in which the Cubs routed the Pads 13-0....as well as Nolan Ryan's last (7th) no-hitter.

Guess if I could go back in time to watch a game, it would be a contest from the summer of '69 -- the first I remember following the Cubs -- any game that Ernie, Billy, Fergie and the rest of the boys had a great game (obviously before mid-August)!

I'd go to Game 7 2003 NLCS and hand everyone envelopes outlining everything that would happen so I'd look like a witch.

I would label the envelope "This is what will happen".

I'd get there 10 minutes before you and hand out envelopes detailing how YOU were going to hand out envelopes outlining everything that would happen.

I would label the envelope, "Delicious Pot Pie Recipe."

I was at the NLDS game 5 win in Atlanta and I would still prefer that over the Sandberg game or any regular season game.

i kind of feel like that about when i was at game 5 of the NLCS when the cubs went up 3-1 in the series. the stadium was all cubs fans and at the time, we thought we had basically just won the pennant and were going to the world series. i'll never forget what the place was like after the game. the tunnels were completely swarming with cubs fans just yelling and high fiving everyone that walked past. people were doing the hop/high five thing that sosa/alou/lofton did in the outfield after wins too. it was completely insane. craziest sports moment of my life, even though it ended up being meaningless.

This is so angsty and stupid and just flat-out wrong. I swear, some Cubs fans don't deserve a WS.

Does it have to be a professional game? If not, I'd go to a random game in 1865 before April 15th and warn everyone about Lincoln's assassination.

If that's not an option, then Game 4 of the 1963 World Series.

Yeah, the great times in '03 (and '07 and '08) aren't in any way negated by the disappointing finishes.

i think he just means meaningless in the effect that we ended up losing that series in literally the worst way possible.

this doesn't even really make sense. are you telling me how i feel about that season? or are you saying that the horrible collapse after game 4 didn't take away any of the impact that the previous games had?

Angsty and stupid?

What an asinine post. Did you even read what he wrote?

I'm saying it isn't rendered meaningless by what happened in the following games. You were there, you and everyone else were elated by what was going on. I don't see why this should be something negative in your memory. It's certainly not meaningless. You were lucky to be there, in that moment. Your current evaluation of this memory is most definitely angsty, in my opinion.

Reading what he wrote it's pretty clear that isn't something negative in his memory, he just added that line to the end to acknowledge the obvious.

My brother was at the Kerry 20k game. And he's barely a fan. So I've long been jealous of that...and would have to choose that one.

Double header.

PNC Park.

Lol, that was like your World Series. Congrats.

I would like to go back to when Dave Littlefield tried to convince everyone else in the room that it was a great idea to throw in Aramis Ramirez in the Lofton trade.

"come on guys I know he's only like 24 and has been pretty good when healthy and is still cost controlled, but lets move him now before he's value added enough to get a good return."

"Great idea Dave."
