He's the only real reason to have any excitement for the Cubs this year, I believe.

.286/.375/.714 as of 5-11-10 pregame. Gotta love a 1.089 OPS from SS.

He only went 0 for 2 with 2 BB yesterday, so I'm sure Lou will give him a few days to watch true veterans like Baker and Fontenot and learn from their expertise.

I would in no way be behind punishing him for it or not playing him, but he did have a pretty horrific game despite that batting line.

Also the batting line was skewed by the fact that one of the walks was intentional and they might have been being careful with him on the other walk because of runners on, two outs, and Lilly on deck. But yes, he definitely needs to play regardless.

The play where HRamirez ended up on second after the lack of hustle bothers me and I'm sure it bothers Lou. I think that Castro should play tonight assuming no rain out, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lou sat him because of that play to send him a message.

Sending messages.

Good to see he had another 2 hits tonight, but 5 errors already?!?! Yeesh.

When was the 5th?

I have no idea. I just saw the box score.

Whoever thought this guy was polished enough to play one of the most important defensive positions on the field is crazy

Whoever thought that he was going to be flawless is crazy. I think the kid can get a pass for being nervous in his first homestead with the team.

If only there was a place players could play to keep developing.

Like Pittsburgh?

Are people really this bothered by the errors?

I do sort of think that multiple errors every game is kind of a downer.

Even though he had three errors in a game, it was his only multiple-error game, FWIW.

I like that his BABIP isn't crazy high at the moment, as a matter of fact its .333.

I want to see his walk rate go up (10% at the moment). Mix in some power and the sky is the limit.

Line going into today: .333/.400/.667 So far there are three reasons to watch the Cubs (IMO)

1. Castro

2. Soto

3. Wells

I do not know if I totally agree, I enjoy watching a lot of these players and I think sooner than later Lee and Ramirez will be hot and this team will have people roped right back in. Byrd and Soriano have been fun to watch the majority of the season as well as Fuku.

How many double plays has Castro turned? Seems like he has at least 1 in every game.

espn stats says 2 in 5 games.

Just went thru the boxscores. It is. The Cubs have turned DPs in all but 1 game he has been up, but he was not involved in 3 of them.

Yes but it seems to be that Castro is ready to join the big leagues. He showed it in ST and has shown it in the minors. I don't think he can really develop any more down there. He has maxed out the development he could get in the minors.

Yeah! Crazy bastards!

Whoever thought it was a good idea to approve my account on NSBB is also a crazy bastard.
