I like Brewer better than Redick, even before you take into account the money saved

Same here. People got really excited because Redick had some decent play but I'd definitely rather have Brewer. It's just so weird to have 3 free agents from the same team end up with the same team.

While pretty much true, remember that Brewer was traded to Memphis last season.

And then like immediately got hurt.

So like I said...

All things considered, the whiffing on Morrow is looking like the misfire of the offseason.

Warriors didn't even match a 4/19 offer sheet from the Nets for him and he would've filled a big need. I'm not in love with Brewer in the starting lineup even if its in name only between him and Korver.

I like Brewer as well.

I would have really liked to have had at least 1 starter have a proven track record of hitting 3 pointers. Deng can sometimes hit them at maybe a 30% clip. I think Brewer is a career 28-29% 3 point shooter. And Rose claims he can hit 3's but who knows for sure, and plus ideally he is the person who is supposed to benefit from having a long range shooter in the lineup, not the person shooting the 3's.

Having Korver will help, but he's probably playing 20 minutes a game tops, and there will be times because of game situation and his lack of defensive abilities that we cannot have him in the game.

To me, this is the biggest disappointment in not getting Redick. The Bulls are horrible on 3 pointers. Now they have 1 guy who won't play much more that 25 minutes/game in Korver.

Deng hits a few and even shot 38% last year, but he passed up on them all the time. Hinrich was the same. Both these guys were getting open looks from 3 last year all the time and either not taking them or missing. Now Brewer isn't going to be any better. Maybe they can get Deng to throw a few more up there. If he's hitting at 38%, he should keep shooting them until he starts hitting at a lower percentage.

Redick would've been huge on offense. I'm bummed about it.

Completely forgot about that.

Brewer is a career 23.4% shooter from 3. About 26% the last 2 years. So, yeah...he should never ever shoot a 3 unless the team refines his form. But he is a career 52% shooter from the field (about 55% from 2pt) which means he can fill and finish with just about anyone his size. I think he compliments Rose on the wing moreso than anyone the Bulls have had. Plays strong D, passes well and willingly, and cuts well without the ball. A welcomed addition to a team that's been playing with 2Gs that are unable or unwilling to cut to the hoop and can take the lead on the break (w/ Rose finishing).

The Bulls are a backcourt shooter away from being a really, really good team.

I'm looking at the 3pt shooting rankings, and there's a lot of good young long-range shooters. Any chance any of these guys are available in a trade?

Arron Afflalo- Denver

Nick Young- Washington

Brandon Rush- Indiana

George Hill- San Antonio

Does Joe Johnson's contract and drafting Jordan Crawford make Jamal Crawford expendable in ATL?

I would love to get Afflalo or Young. They can defend too. Not sure Denver or Washington would trade them.

Afflalo on the Bulls would be so awesome.

This is great stuff.

I kinda wish they did leave Lebron off the Redeem Team now. I guess this also confirms that Rose didn't kiss Lebron's ass enough for his liking. I'm nonplussed by that at this point.

After reading that, I'm really glad Rose didn't fall all over himself to drool over James, like so many others.

Great article.

Great story and Rose obviously never wanted him here in Chicago. It's a sharp contrast of two players. Rose has no problem being the alpha male leader, and James has no problem deferring that leadership.

I'm still unconvinced that Rose is an alpha male leader.

Deng is really not a three point shooter. He has never put up more than 2 a game on average in his career. But it wouldn't hurt to be in the gym working on that with Rose this summer.

That was a great read.

More and more, I am angry at the stupid Atlanta Hawks. Bastards! 127 million!!!! Johnson would have fit so damn well up here. As it is, I feel like we'll be seeing Heat/Lakers in 10 months.

Good for DRose. You also get the impression that the Bulls management must not have been all that keen on LeBron. Because if they were, wouldn't they have asked DRose to start recruiting? It would seem like the obvious thing to do.

re: Deng. Before last season, Deng said he was working to add the 3 to his repertoire and shot a lot more in 2009-2010 than he had in 2 seasons prior. He actually shot 38% which is not shabby at all. To me, I think its bad that he continually passed up open 3s last year, even while he was shooting at 38%. Even if he thinks he can get a better shot by stepping up and putting up a 2 pointer, it at least keeps the defense honest. Shooting 38% from 3 is like shooting 57% for 2 pointers. IMO, he should just take more 3 pointers.

i'm glad derrick didn't want to wash lebron's nuts. that's the guy i want on my team.

Agree. Right or wrong he thinks he can be "the guy". I wish Mumbles and Noah weren't Bulls. I hated him at Florida but I love what he's become in the NBA. Speaking of love...

Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let's go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!

There's still time to turn from the Dark Side. You already root for two Chicago teams. :)

Rush is potentially available. It would probably have to be a 3 team trade as the Pacers are really looking for a PG. They would almost certainly give up Rush in order to get one.

Rush can defend, too. He hasn't really materialized as the consistent scorer that I thought he would, though.

[expletive] Rose. Slobber all over that hog, you dumb [expletive].

Nothing Rose said would have ever gotten LeBron here.

So with that in consideration... do you want our franchise player to be a guy begging for the services of an ego-maniac, or do you want him to be a guy saying "[expletive] that, I'm the man and I'm gonna show everybody by doing it myself"

Rose has the attitude of a real competitor, just like Durant. They want to beat the best, not join them.

Now, can Rose be that guy? I don't know, but I'm really glad he thinks he can be.
