Knicks guard Allan Houston said D'Antoni made a strong presentation but couldn't tell if James was impressed.

"He didn't give us much feedback," Houston said.

That can't be a good sign if you are associated with the Knicks. I understand James isn't going to tip his hand on what his decision is, but the fact that James seems to be pretty much a robot during the Knicks presentation, is not a good sign.

"the dude just sat there. he didn't even say bye when he left."

Was he sleeping?

so the knicks' big pitch to lebron was that he take a salary of 11.5 mil and then have him recruit 2 other superstars to take the same kind of money to play there.

so awesome.

which is why he just sat there.

come one bron, say something! the chance to play for significantly less than you are worth and the prospect of recruiting others to play for significantly less than they are worth has got to be intriguing, yes?

SAY SOMETHING!

Wait is this actually true?

Yep.

And the Knicks want to know why they are not considered a serious contender? You don't lowball the best player in the game. You don't ask him to take less mony then Rudy freakin' Gay. After today, Knicks--imo--are eliminated in James eyes.

According to Bosh's twitter, he talked with Riley and Wade today, and he said the meeting went well with the Heat.

If that is an actual quote (I haven't read the article or whatnot that quote is from) then the Knicks might as well be working overtime trying to either get Lee back into fold or someone like Boozer or Ama're......cause DAMN for James to be just sitting there basically waiting for the Knicks to leave is very bad....Yet the Knicks fans still think they have a shot.

they also made him a max offer, but yeah. i read about the "take way less money and get 2 other guys" thing a few days ago originally, but i didn't think they'd actually go through with it.

The other option -- as reported Tuesday by SI.com -- was to offer James a five-year deal, with a starting base salary of $11.5 million, which would leave room for Johnson and Stoudemire to join James in New York at similar salaries. The Knicks essentially would be counting on James to help recruit them as teammates by convincing them to accept at least $5 million less per year than they could earn elsewhere on the promise of ultimately receiving more income from off-court deals that would be available to them in New York.

ha no, not an actual quote.

I don't think there are that many Eastern conference teams that hurt you if you play Deng at the 4. You could always make him a 6th man if you find a decent 2.

so do we HAVE to trade deng if we want lebron? i mean not money-wise, but space-wise? there's no chance deng can play PF, right?

No the Bulls don't have to trade Deng to get LeBron. They have enough for him. But if they want two players at max contracts, they have to trade Johnson and Taj or Deng.

Deng can't play PF. He can't rebound and doesn't have the size or strength defensively. My guess is that the Bulls will trade him after eating 30-40% of his salary. Deng will want out if LeBron comes to Chicago anyway. Unfortunately you won't be able to trade him until after all the big boys have been signed and someone is left out in the cold and is in need of a SF. But that would mean that the Bulls wouldn't have enough at signing time to get 2 max guys.

I would say look at how many truly big front lines out there. There aren't a lot. The Lakers, of course.

And Deng's a very good rebounder for a 3. I'm sure he would have his struggles at the 4 especially against bigger teams but I don't see him being overmatched all of the time. Rashard Lewis is a 4. Channing Frye is a 5. Josh Smith is a 4. It's not ideal but it can be done.

To guys like Bosh and Lebron, the salary doesn't even matter. If they came to Chicago/New York the endorsements would be so enormous that whether they were making the maximum or not they'd be getting egregious amounts of money

If its a pride thing I guess I get it, but if I"m Lebron and I get the chance to play in Chicago with Bosh-Noah-Rose and have to take slightly less money than Bosh I would still [expletive] jump at the chance but I can't say what he would do in that situation with that pitch

If they weren't so selfish, they'd all take 1M to play for the Bulls.

You really think whether Lebron is in Cleveland or Chicago makes a big difference in his endorsements?

why else do you think Mark Price's endorsements were lower than Michael Jordan's?

I can fathom star players taking up to maybe a million less to play with another set of superstars. At some point you're going to incur the wrath of the players union though.

On the flip side Craig Ehlo has probably been in about the same amounts of commercials as Jordan
