I had been pining for a James-Boozer pairing, but the more I look at it the more I think David Lee is a better option than Boozer (assuming that the pie-in-the-sky scenario of James and Bosh doesn't happen).

Lee's PER (22.28) was 14th best in the NBA last season, Boozer's (21.42) was 17th, so that's not a huge difference. However, Lee's VA score (Value Added) and EWA (Estimated Wins Added) were 526.4 and 17.5 respectively, good for 5th in all of the NBA and behind only James, Durant, Wade and Howard. Boozer's VA was 395.6 and his EWA was 13.2, which was 18th in the league.

Lee is 27 and has been pretty healthy, with a gradual increase in his MPG over each of his 5 years. Boozer will be 29 in October, has been injured several times (he played only 84 games during his first two seasons in Utah, and only 33 two seasons ago), and has 8 years in the league during which he has played major minutes each of his seasons.

Lee is a better value, IMO.

BTW, Lee's PER is 3 points less than Bosh, but his VA and EWA are each significantly higher.

Both the Bulls and Cavs are making their pitches to Lebron on Saturday...

On Friday the Heat and the Clippers get their pitch. Saturday it's the Bulls and Cavs. If I were you, I'd read some significance into the Bulls and Cavs getting the last pitch. Multiple sources continue to believe that LeBron is still leaning toward Chicago and Cleveland at the moment.

Good. It seems going last would also give them a chance to perhaps make another move first to dangle in front of LBJ. If such a move is possible.

Boozer's a horrific defender too. Lee's gotta be getting a boost from how awful the Knicks are though, doesn't he?

I guess? Probably, but I think the point is that he brings more value than Boozer does regardless of how the team is shaped and what his role is. In other words, Boozer needs to be a focal point to bring value, Lee does not.

From that article:

Of all the teams vying for LeBron, D'Antoni is the one who has the clearest vision of what to do with LeBron on the court and what players he needs to be surrounded by.

Huh. Because I've heard a few argue that D'Antoni actually isn't this magnet that the Knicks were hoping he would be.

Anyway, once the Bulls get in the room with Lebron, I vote for a blockade outside the door to pick off any Cavs personnel who might think they are actually going to talk to him :)

If you go to the drop down box on the 2nd link it still has Flip Murray as #6.

The picture says James.

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

It took me a minute to notice it, I thought it was linked just cause the #6 was up there with all the Rose jerseys.

I didn't see this here: KC Johnson tweeted that Wade was at the UC today for a meeting with the Bulls. I'm sure he's just screwing with Miami. No one seriously believes he's leaving.

Bosh himself tweeted that he met with the Bulls today.

I could see him leaving if they don't get Bosh or Lebron.

They'll get Amare if that happens. Plus I bet they will try and trade for Chris Paul or Tony Parker.

Moreover, let's assume Bosh goes to NY or Chicago and James goes to Chicago. Where is Wade going to go? The Knicks are the only team that could afford him and one other max player, but why would he go there if Bosh or someone like him isn't there?

The only way it makes sense for Wade to leave Miami is if LeBron stays in Cleveland and Bosh signs with the Bulls or Knicks. He could then join Bosh in NY (or go to Chicago to play with Rose, Noah and likely Lee or Boozer) or join Bosh in Chicago.

One thing I haven't heard much discussion about is whether all this jostling of top players might result in a power shift further to the Eastern Conference.

I'm sure it will at least be talked about once all this concludes.

All the biggest names in FA are already in the East. I guess if all those guys stayed in the East and Boozer, Stoudamire, and Dirk came to the East too it might make a difference, but I doubt it will make a huge difference.

Bucher was talking about this on Sportscenter this morning and he imply (or I thought he implied) that the reason Wade was going on these recruiting visit was because it would keep prospective Heat rivals frm focusing on other FAs like Bosh, etc, and thus wasting everybody time. I don't know if it's true, but considering the "loyal" lie Wade said awhile back, I am surprise they would even meet with him.

I haven't heard a word on Paul Pierce.

Part of me wants him to wind up a Bull just to see the back-tracking on here. Plus he's gonna be damn old by the end of that deal.

I don't think Pierce would accept any kind of MLE deal, and I don't see (hope not) the Bulls giving him max money. Allen possibly could be had at the MLE, but not Pierce.

...it has been learned that the Heat's preliminary steps into the process have included contact with Phoenix Suns forward Amare Stoudemire, Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh, Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer, Atlanta Hawks guard Joe Johnson, Dallas Mavericks center Brendan Haywood, Charlotte Bobcats guard Raymond Felton, Washington Wizards swingman Mike Miller and Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay.

I also read they've tried to get in touch with Dirk.

Well, but if it produces a conglomeration of that talent to one or two teams, it could bump up the stakes at the top level of the conference.

I'd be a little surprised to see Allen at the MLE at this point. Pierce will probably wind up back with Boston for way too much money for too money years, effectively killing their chances at reloading around Rondo and Perkins.

If Johnson re-ups with Atlanta (and especially if James re-ups with Cleveland), there are going to be too many teams with money to burn and no players for Allen to not be overpaid by a bunch. Especially since Darko just got 20 mil.

How strange?

I bet there's a page like that for each team that is in contention for Lebron...and this one just accidentally got published.
