lol...I'm sure the Nets sources think so.

I admittedly am more worried about the Nets than I am about Miami and definitely New York. I think it's ultimately Cleveland or Chicago, but I would put the Nets ahead of Miami and way ahead of the Knicks. NJ has a good supporting cast with Harris and Lopez and room for almost another max, much like our situation. I really don't think he wants to go to Miami, where it is already Wade's team. The Jay Z thing and the move to Brooklyn in a few years definitely helps their case. I still think its the Cavs or Bulls, but I wouldn't count the Nets out.

I absolutely agree. They can offer strong ownership, free access to Beyonce, two good pieces already in place and a move to Brooklyn as the "hip" team in three years. Scary wild card.

And they don't move for 3 years. It might as well be playing for the next 3 years in a black hole until that happens. There's almost zero chance LeBron signs with them this year.

They were 12-70.

So what, Cleveland will be 12-70 next year without LeBron. Dude is seriously probably worth 30 wins on his own easily to a bad team.

Less so to a decent team, so unfortunately the Bulls won't win 71 with him.

Also, not that I care much about basketball, but what does moving to Brooklyn have to do with anything? Brooklyn ain't Manhattan and it never will be. There are trendy areas but it's mostly a crime riddled slum like the Bronx.

So sell LeBron to the Bulls on a 3-year deal.

It has to help that Prokhorov could probably feed LeBron into a virtually untapped market in Russia. If LeBron wants to be a global figure and a billionaire, it would help to add 142 million people as potential consumers. Then again, I have no idea what kind of effect Prokhorov would actually have on his home country.

So they'll be 42-40?

They have some factors but people tell me Harris/Lopez and then I say 12-70. That's not run of the mill bad...that's among the very worst teams in league history.

But yeah, I'm worried about the Jay-Z/Prokhorov thing.

They have much more talent than a 12-70 record would indicate. Lopez is as good (probably better) than Noah. And while Harris isn't nearly as good as Rose, he might be a better fit since Rose needs the ball in his hands to be at his best and LeBron's the same way, where as Harris can play a little bit off the ball. Not saying Lopez and Harris are better or more valuable to LeBron than Rose and Noah, but it's not that far apart. If you think LeBron wouldn't want to play 3 years in NJ before they move, then maybe the idea that's out there that LeBron might want to sign a 3 year deal and then become a FA again might be right on.

42-40 if they just add LeBron? Ya, that sounds about right. However, they also have room for another max guy via sign and trade or an almost max guy as a signing. Let's say they get LeBron and Boozer, that's a 50 win team in the East.

What does where the stadium is located have to do with where the player lives?

Because one option is Newark and the other is Brooklyn. That's a pretty gigantic difference in terms of the team's identity.

I was being facetious about 42-40. If they signed only Lebron I'm sure they'd be better than that. They're going to get better just organically anyway.

Still, if Lebron wants to get in that Jordan/Kobe territory he really needs to start winning soon. As far as 25 year old NBA players go, he's pretty old. He's got a lot of mileage and he relies far more on sheer athleticism than almost every player in the NBA. I don't see him leaving for a situation where he's looking at a top 3 seed in the East. That's worse than staying in Cleveland.

Devin Harris is so overrated. Look at his career numbers. He's had one all-star caliber season and he can't stay healthy. He's not on the same planet as Rose.

Lopez is nice, I'll give you that. And if it wasn't that far apart they wouldn't have gone 12-70. That speaks volumes.

PER:

Harris: 16.2

Lopez: 20.1

Rose: 19.4

Noah: 17.9

Yes, there were injuries involved and PER doesn't tell the whole story, but it's not as much of a difference as a lot of people think.

It's not a black hole when they can add Bosh with him and have Harris, LeBron, Bosh and Lopez as 4/5 of their lineup.

Brooklyn is the yuppie and hipster capital of NY. It's not really "mostly a slum". NY athletes live anywhere from the village, to fancy brownstones uptown to neighboring communities in Jersey and Brooklyn to country estates an hour away. It doesn't really matter.

It's still Newark, New Jersey.

I did say Harris is not nearly as good. You're right, though, that's probably even an understatement. I just think a lot of what Rose does so well with the ball in his hands, is going to be minimized by having LeBron on the same team.

And Harris was hurt last year (though he does seem to be hurt often). He was at 21.65 his first year in NJ. Lopez is and will be better than Noah and they have the potential to add Bosh while it looks like the Bulls won't be able to.

Rose played off the ball a lot when Hinrich was in the game.

Usually the offense consisted of Rose running pick and roll from the top of the key off Miller/Noah or coming off flex action on the baseline. It was not an isolation heavy offense at all although there should've been more of that.
