Andy Katz early top 25 for next season. I like ... a lot.

Purdue as number one? Laughable. They will be good but I dont think they are preseason number one good. Butler at number 3? Also laughable. OSU is a top ten team next year, and I think with what they are adding could be ahead of both MSU and Purdue in the BT.

The Kentucky quintet are all gone according to Kentucky Sports Radio's Twitter feed.

Patterson, Wall, Cousins, Blesdoe and Orton are all going pro. I would bet Bledsoe and Orton will be back though.

Either they're going pro or they're coming back. They can't do both.

By "going pro" he probably meant declaring for the draft. If any of the players didn't hire agents they can still change their minds.

OSU's recruiting class is sick, but they're losing the best freakin player in the county. MSU is going to be better. Whichever of the 3 finishes in 3rd is going to be the best 3rd place team in the country.

Well I assume Anthony Booker coming to Mizzou ends any idea of us getting another recruit this year, unless more than one current player transfers.

If true, I'm a little disappointed that it's not someone who will come in and play immediately.

You and me both.

Rumor has it there are going to be two transfers, likely Paul and Stone. Adding Booker for next year and bagging Ricardo Ratliffe would be a pretty nice tradeoff for those two IMO, although it'd really put pressure on Pressey and Kreklow to contribute.

I would bet you're wrong. Why would Bledsoe come back? He's going to be a top-15 pick almost certainly.

Also, X Henry elected to leave KU and go pro.

his handlers are about to become his entourage.

Do you mean his parents or his brother?

They (the parents) were the ones who basically handled his recruitment.

I know you're going to launch into a tirade about mercenaries and Hessians, but dude's entire family played at KU. And he was also the first one and done in school history.

Zavea probably saw how well staying for extra years at KU helped the NBA chances of Aldrich, Rush, Wright, etc. and thought he had to get the [expletive] out of there while he was still in the lottery.

Not everyone can have the same success at sending players to the NBA that Bruce "Lotto Machine" Weber and the Illini have had.

the best player self ever had a hand in sending to the league had to be re-taught the game by weber.

The Big Ten is going to be fun next year.

Not for everyone. :|

I think IU may be getting some good news soon.

Verdell Jones is trasnferring?

I have heard that discussed, but, no, I don't think so. Evidently his father thinks he wasn't allowed to shoot enough ( ).

klee says that it looks good for the illini in the mike shaw sweepstakes right now, although msu is also pretty high.

i think that the hiring of oliver purnell saved the illini, here. players from chicago WANT to go to depaul, even wainwright was able to land guys like mac koshwal and dar tucker. i think purnell is a step back.

lololololololololololol

it's true, he had to have his mind erased after playing for the great white hunter, who is more adept at selling ice to mario chalmers and his handler/father (or, more appropriately, driving a dump truck full of booster money up to his house because ku doesn't care how they win) than he is at coaching college basketball.

Sulley, I think the all star appearances of Rush and Chalmers speak for themselves. Self just knows how to make a guard a star.

Russel Robinson is my early pick for MVP next year.

I don't see how a team that spent the entire season in the top 10 and returns it's three stars is laughable. Are they the No. 1 team? Maybe not but they are definitely in consideration along with Duke (depending on Singler), Butler (depending on Hayward) and MSU (depending on if Lucas is healthy at start of season).

I'm no Purdue lover but I don't consider that laughable. Assuming Hummel recovers fully -- and that is actually a big assumption, I think -- Purdue is clearly a preseason top-5 team. At this point I wouldn't rank them No. 1, due to Hummel's status and the loss of two senior guards that I think may be bigger than some Purdue fans think. They do have two incoming freshman guards that figure to be better offensively though.

And Butler absolutely is a preseason top-5 team. They were the national runners-up, should return most everyone, have a nice recruiting class, and finished No. 12 in Pomeroy.

"ron?"

"yes."

"this is bill."

"hi, Bill, how was your vacation to kansas?"

"pretty good ron, i'm still there."

"really? you told me you'd be back yesterday."

"yeah, i know, ron, but they really know how to treat a coach here in kansas. i mean, all that stuff about doubleday drive or whatever and tim allen something something fieldhouse is really true, it's pretty awesome."

"get to the point, bill."

"Well, you know how they just lost their coach here, right?"

"i think i heard something about it a week or so ago."

"yeah, roy rogers went to like duke, i think. well, ron, to make a long story short, they offered me the job and i'm inclined to accept it unless you can match their offer."

"bill, you know money is no object, this is illinois, not some weird state that i couldn't find on a map."

"well, money is part of it, but it's mostly the gypsies."

"gypsies?"

"yeah, honest to goodness, gypsies. the boosters here offered me a team of gypsies to put curses on players so that they'll come here. i hear that only duke has more powerful gypsies, or maybe north carolina, i don't know the difference. also, necromancers, sorcerers, and shamans, a couple witch doctors, too. also, a junkyard full of money that has been drained from their public education system and from the pirating ships in the indian ocean off the coast of somalia."

"wow, bill, that's an excellent offer."

"and an island."

"what?"

"an island where they send players who refuse to play for them. then, the kids come back and they're........different somehow."

"like......evil?"

"yeah, kinda. kinda evil or something."

"that's an excellent offer."

"also, a team of mercenaries to carry out my will and the will of the boosters themselves."

"who are these boosters?"

"don't know, i never see their faces, it's all done through telepathy, my contract will be signed in blood. no [expletive], blood."

"that's a pretty good offer that i don't think we can match, bill. you see, this is illinois and we have morals and values and such. we don't have evil gypsies or mercenaries. we have corrupt politicians but that's as far as it goes. what you're describing kind of sounds like hogwarts academy or something, the boosters sound like voldemort, sauron, and lex luthor. any attempt to match that offer would end in eternal damnation bill. i think, i think i need to go pray."

"okay, ron, it was nice talking to you."
